What a waste of opportunity for character moments.

How did Steve feel going into Halawa for the first time since his escape and seeing guards who used to be, you know, guarding him? How is he coping after his torture? How did Danny feel about dealing with a bunch of kidnapped kids his daughter's age who attended a school much like hers? Guess we'll never know.

In all the frantic running around with tight deadlines, I love how they still managed to find time to stop and wash the mud off Danny's Camaro whenever it got dirty. 8-P

Five-0 must have quite a reputation when it comes to maintaining a chain of evidence. First they let Hesse set fire to the money from the asset forfeiture locker, and now they let Castillo's people blow up $80 million in drug evidence.

Speaking of Castillo, I just have to say it...Five-0 was Keyser Söze'd! Hee. Castillo reminded me a lot, in both appearance and attitude, of my former governor Rod Blagojevich, who is having his first sentencing hearing tomorrow regarding his corruption convictions. That should be a circus that'll put Ringling Bros. to shame.

Could that review board have made Joe sound any more like a superhero while ostensibly condemning him for his actions in Korea? And now that Joe is being forced to retire, he seems to think that makes him Batman to Steve's Commissioner Gordon. Steve could (should) have arrested him for kidnapping Hiro Noshimuri. I really hope Joe's story runs its course and they write him out very soon. He's a much bigger Mary Sue than Lori.

And speaking of Lori, I would love to see the governor have a meeting with her over her "oversight" of Five-0, especially now that she's supporting Steve and his crazy against the governor. The governor looked very surprised when Lori backed Steve instead of him.

former governor Rod Blagojevich

Normally I don't post on reaction posts (don't ask me why, I'm weird or just run out of time or nothing to say in response? who knows)...

Anyways!

I had to comment on the above. While watching those scenes, I kept wondering why he looked so danged familiar and you are so right! He did look creepily like Blagojevich.

Me thinks he has an in if they ever decide to do a biopic on that dude. Gods, please no!

Like Blago would let anyone play him but himself. 8-P

I was also surprised that they skipped the angst and Grace-references over school kids being kidnapped. It seems like she's getting down-played this season.

I liked that the guys had a decent cargument, but I expected an explosion from Danny over [a] the mud and [b] Steve using the Camaro to stop a truck. Maybe they just skipped the scene where Steve had to run the Camaro through a car wash on the way back as part of his punishment.

Does Joe have a split personality, or is he just on some really good drugs? He kidnaps Hiro Noshimuri, locks him in the trunk of his car, then says, "Oh, sure, we can trust the (almost complete lack of) information he's giving us." Then, as soon as he leaves Steve, Joe's making mysterious phone calls about "how close he's getting." The impression I got was that Joe was talking about Steve, but Steve wouldn't be getting anywhere if Joe weren't leading the way. What the heck?!

My crack-laden theory on that is that there are two interrelated paths of inquiry. Joe wants Steve to follow the one containing Pa McGarrett's investigation and finish what his dad started, but he doesn't want Steve to follow the interrelated path leading to whoever Joe was talking to on the phone, who my crack-laden guess is the not-so-dead Ma McGarrett. I think Joe was saying that Steve was getting too close to #2 while following #1.

That would make a lot of sense. I can barely imagine the epic meltdown that Steve would have if he discovered that his mother was actually alive (although I think that aspect of your theory has far more crack than the rest). If you're right, be ready for five zillion fics detailing Steve's reaction, three of which will be amazing works of art. Oh, and the actual show will have him brush it off like the broken arm and torture. ;> (Not feeling cynical, just silly. I should probably eat soon.)

Yeah, the show's not always good with the emotional follow-through. I'd like to hear what's going on with Danny and Rachel. Clearly they still have some kind of contact since Danny still gets Grace occasionally. And how often does he get to see her? Are they having tons of visits we're not seeing on screen, or was Halloween the only time he's seen her since Rachel and Grace came back from New Jersey?

And yeah, I call them crack-laden theories for a reason. I fully expect to be proved wrong in full or in part, and it won't really bother me if/when I am.

Maybe Grace had a big role on Kono's spin-off show?

I just thought of something I haven't even seen covered much in fan-fic. Danny moved to Hawaii because Grace was there -- she's his world, his everything -- but he didn't move back to New Jersey with her because Steve was in trouble. Granted, she's a smart, sweet kid who likes Steve. However, I could see her being pretty upset with Danny and resentful of Steve. That whole experience had to be horribly stressful, so her acting up, even not wanting to see her dad (or saying she didn't to hurt him) would be understandable.

I can see that more from Rachel than from Grace. If Danny told Grace the truth about having to stay in Hawaii because Uncle Steve was in big trouble and needed his help, I'm sure Grace would have understood. And then Rachel and Grace came back to Hawaii pretty quickly, so it's not like they were separated for months. There wasn't really much time for resentment to build.

What I worry about is that the more time Grace spends with the mansion and country club set, the less she'll want to visit Danny, not because she doesn't want to spend time with him, but because she hates the crappy places he lives. Who would want to go from mansions and servants to black mold and no windows?

Me, too! But the Camaro is important!

I was so wondering why Lori didn't report them or get in trouble herself with the Governor for that field trip to North Korea? Seems like that was a little out of line and maybe worth his attention? The Navy sure thought it was.

Thanks!

I can't believe the governor doesn't know. I mean, Danny goes to him for help and is refused, and then suddenly the entirety of Five-0 disappears for a couple of days (Korea isn't exactly next door), then they all suddenly show up again with Steve, who is sporting obvious injuries...

I'm sure the governor is going the route of plausible deniability in public, but there should have been some repercussions in private.
