I think I'm going to start a Primeval drinking game. Every time Nick Cutter says, "she's my wife," do a shot.
Helen's a real prize, isn't she? She doesn't feel like she owes Nick an apology or an explanation for letting him think she's been dead for the last 8 years. I don't believe for one second that she contacted him because she wants company. For one thing, she's had company (whoever that guy was that was found dead with her camera in episode 1). For another thing, her clothes are in too good a shape to have lasted 8 years and her watch battery still works, so she's obviously been making trips through the rift. If she wanted company, she had plenty of opportunity to find it then. Also, if she wanted Nick for the company, she would've greeted him more warmly. She doesn't seem to have missed him at all, so whatever it is she wants from Nick, company is not it. Helen's "You're rejecting me?" to Nick just about made me laugh. Umm, yes? Is there any particular reason he shouldn't after the way you've treated him?
I did have a moment of doubt for the show when Nick said to check bodies of water for the anomaly. That would make sense if they were looking for aquatic predators, not for the anomaly. Just because the rift opened in water on one side doesn't mean it will open in water on the other. But I heaved a sigh of relief when it turned out the show was smarter than Nick and a rift opened in a residential basement.
Stephen has finally caught on that Abby has the hots for him, but Abby is still oblivious to Connor's feelings. Poor Connor. He's too nice a guy to fight for her.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Helen's up to.

And the whole government conspiracy thing sorta adds to the show, it won't be just a creature of the week thing.
The guy playing Stephen is nice to look at, I think, but his character needs a bit more depth, IMO.
I do like Abby and Connor, though....don't know why...I just like them.. lol...

I think Helen has some hidden agenda
When the show first mentioned Helen, I felt really sorry for her. She goes for a hike in the woods hoping to find a rare animal species or something, and winds up trapped millions of years in the past. Just day to day survival would have been a nightmare, not to mention the loneliness that comes from knowing you're the only human being on the entire planet because humans haven't evolved yet. Now that I've met her, though, I'd much rather poke her with a sharp stick.
I like all of the characters so far. Well, except for Helen and Lester. That's a rarity for me. There are a lot of shows I try and stop watching because I don't like any of the characters, and on most of my regular shows, I only like one character. I'm just looking forward to getting caught up to ITV in episodes so I can read fic without getting spoiled silly.

I shouldn't be surprised there's fanfic out there!
Might be interesting to read some, but maybe I should wait until I've seen more than three eps! LOL!
