I think I'm going to start a Primeval drinking game. Every time Nick Cutter says, "she's my wife," do a shot.

Helen's a real prize, isn't she? She doesn't feel like she owes Nick an apology or an explanation for letting him think she's been dead for the last 8 years. I don't believe for one second that she contacted him because she wants company. For one thing, she's had company (whoever that guy was that was found dead with her camera in episode 1). For another thing, her clothes are in too good a shape to have lasted 8 years and her watch battery still works, so she's obviously been making trips through the rift. If she wanted company, she had plenty of opportunity to find it then. Also, if she wanted Nick for the company, she would've greeted him more warmly. She doesn't seem to have missed him at all, so whatever it is she wants from Nick, company is not it. Helen's "You're rejecting me?" to Nick just about made me laugh. Umm, yes? Is there any particular reason he shouldn't after the way you've treated him?

I did have a moment of doubt for the show when Nick said to check bodies of water for the anomaly. That would make sense if they were looking for aquatic predators, not for the anomaly. Just because the rift opened in water on one side doesn't mean it will open in water on the other. But I heaved a sigh of relief when it turned out the show was smarter than Nick and a rift opened in a residential basement.

Stephen has finally caught on that Abby has the hots for him, but Abby is still oblivious to Connor's feelings. Poor Connor. He's too nice a guy to fight for her.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Helen's up to.

Ha! Someone else who is watching Primeval. I am so enjoying this show - who can't love having dinosaur-type critters running around the modern world. The only thing that grates is: I wish they'd lighten up with the Evil Government rif, although I see where a bit of that is needed for the storyline. Unless Lester turns out to be in league with the evil-or-merely-selfish? (we now realize) Helen?!

I agree with just about everything you wrote. On the matter of Abby not recognizing Connor's crush.. after the Big Hug in this last episode, I think she's just trying to ignore it.

Yay, someone to talk about Primeval with! I've only been able to get one friend to watch it, and she didn't like it.

I figured the conspiracy stuff was going to play a part on the show as soon as they found a body that wasn't Helen's on the other side of the rift, along with all those supplies. My only problem with it is that Lester is so cartoonishly evil that he ought to have a mustache to twirl while he's tying Abby or Claudia to the railroad tracks.

I thought that Abby just figured that was Connor's response to any female in the vicinity, not her specifically. Connor doesn't exactly come across like a ladies man, even if he is a cutie.

Oh, Connor is definitely no ladies man, but the bumbling cuteness is adorable in the extreme. For myself, I think Abby would have to be extremely oblivious to miss to big crush. Of course, she's been so preoccupied by her unrequited lust for Stepha it might have sailed right over her head. But next week she gets to be a damsel in distress. If she's lucky she'll get to be clasped to his extremely manly chest when rescued! ;-)

And yes, Lester is such a stereotype that it is bordering on the comic, which takes away from the whole Evil Government Conspiracy drama. They need to tone him down or, hopefully, we'll start getting more of Claudia and less of Lester.

I must admit that I might be a little oblivious to the adorableness that is Connor if Stephen were in the same room in tactical gear. ::is shallow::

This show is really a whumper's dream come true so far, but I want it to be Connor's turn soon. Stephen and Nick have been whumped twice each already.

Yes, whumpage all around! Lester could stand to get his backside kicked.

I'm still not sure what to think about this show....but I'm gonna continue to watch it.

I think Helen has some hidden agenda...I agree with you, if she really contacted Cutter because she wanted company, she'd give him a warmer welcome. And I was glad he got pissy with her.

And the whole government conspiracy thing sorta adds to the show, it won't be just a creature of the week thing.

The guy playing Stephen is nice to look at, I think, but his character needs a bit more depth, IMO.

I do like Abby and Connor, though....don't know why...I just like them.. lol...

I'm still not sure what to think about this show

I think it's great fun. It's kind of like Torchwood, except that I don't spend the entire episode wanting to slap the main characters all the time.

I think Helen has some hidden agenda

When the show first mentioned Helen, I felt really sorry for her. She goes for a hike in the woods hoping to find a rare animal species or something, and winds up trapped millions of years in the past. Just day to day survival would have been a nightmare, not to mention the loneliness that comes from knowing you're the only human being on the entire planet because humans haven't evolved yet. Now that I've met her, though, I'd much rather poke her with a sharp stick.

I like all of the characters so far. Well, except for Helen and Lester. That's a rarity for me. There are a lot of shows I try and stop watching because I don't like any of the characters, and on most of my regular shows, I only like one character. I'm just looking forward to getting caught up to ITV in episodes so I can read fic without getting spoiled silly.

I felt bad for Helen at first, too. Wondering how in the heck would she be surviving...

But now.....not so sure. We'll see.

I shouldn't be surprised there's fanfic out there!

Might be interesting to read some, but maybe I should wait until I've seen more than three eps! LOL!
