I don't think this episode was endorsed by PETA.
First Sylar and his dad gut a bunny, and then Danko's former men get all pushy with Mr. Muggles. It was a bad day to be cute and fluffy.
Does Rebel actually know who Eric Doyle is, or did s/he just see Doyle's name on a list of specials and assume he was being persecuted like everybody else? Because I'm totally not on board with Nathan's plan to round up specials willy nilly, but if anybody deserves to be locked up indefinitely, it's Doyle. He's already shown a penchant not only for using his power to hurt people, but also for enjoying using his power to hurt people. I can't imagine why Rebel would want to help him escape and start over unless s/he had no clue he was a sociopath.
Speaking of sociopaths, I'm glad Sylar didn't fall far from the Gray tree. When the writers first retconned his character and said he was adopted, I was annoyed because it made so much sense for him to have been spawned by his nutty (as it turned out, adoptive) mother; the two of them were one wig and a rocking chair from opening their own motel. Monsters like Sylar are usually born, not made, so fortunately it turns out that Sylar's biological dad is a sociopath too. I feel better now. And have I mentioned how awesome John Glover is? John Glover is *THIS* awesome. I just wish the Sylar/Daddy fight had been on a little more even footing considering how many abilities they both have. And is Sylar going to carry around the stuffed fluffy bunny he gutted as his new mascot? 'Cause that's kinda...disturbing.
My favorite part of the episode by far was Danko thinking he could outmaneuver Nathan and take over as head of the project. Yeah, right. For Danko, manipulation is a means to an objective. For the Petrellis, it's such a way of life even Peter can do it when he chooses. I knew Danko wouldn't stand a chance against Angela. She really piled on the decadent Roman emperor attitude, and I loved the delighted little smile on her face after she sent Danko packing with his tail between his legs. She was actually having fun screwing him over. Angela? I ♥ you. And it was so nice to see her using her power for good for once.
Assuming Danko survives his encounter with Sylar, I doubt we've seen the last of him even though he's unemployed now. Danko is so terrified of specials that there's no way he's going to sit back and do nothing given what he knows. If even some of his men are as loyal as he said they are, I wouldn't put it past him to put together his own squad on the side to hunt and assassinate specials. Time will tell.
