I'm trying to decide whether or not to register for WinchestMidwest.

PROS

It's a Supernatural con
It's only $35 for the weekend (3 days)
The con hotel is so close to my apartment that I can see it from here

CONS

It's a very small con with only one track of programming
I'm only interested in about 1/4 of the programming on the schedule
I probably won't know anyone there

If this con were being held anywhere else, the decision would be a no-brainer, but I'm having trouble letting go of the fact that there's going to be a Supernatural convention right in front of my face. How can I turn that down?

So, here's your chance to weigh in.

By all means GO!!

WinchestMidwest grew out of a seed I'd planted in [livejournal.com profile] anteka's ear last year. (The idea was to show off beautiful Madison, WI, but she moved it to Chicago. Probably because it was a more central location.)

Even if you're only interested in 1/4 of the programming, it's worth $35. And because it's a fairly small con, it will be more intimate. Andie says she loves meeting new people and if someone is all alone, she'll welcome them into the fold.

And now, shameless pimping: I started a "Tournament of Supernatural Episodes," or March Madness for Supernatural. Round 1 (http://mrstinkles.livejournal.com/59314.html) is up and I'd love it if you stopped by to vote. And I'd really REALLY love it if you'd pimp it to your flist (since I have only about 6 friends *L*).

I have friends in Madison. I usually attend their annual New Year's party up there. There are some really nice used book stores in Madison.

I voted in your bracket. I'll pimp the tournament as soon as I finish dealing with my email.

It sounds fun. I finally watched Seasons one and two on dvds my sister had. So I'm totally hooked but without means to watch the season three eps I missed. Don't have the money to buy it on iTunes, nor a good connection to download them anyways. Woe is me. But I really do love the show now.

Welcome aboard! It's always good to have another Supernatural fan to talk to. I've been hooked since the pilot.

The CW will be rerunning some episodes before the last 4 new eps of the season start on April 24. I can highly recommend "Mystery Spot."

Cool, I'll have to keep an eye out for that, thanks. And yeah I loved it so much. I found it amusing whenever people assumed they were a gay couple. I just love the humor of the show, sometimes morbid other times raunchy, or just playful. And the angst and how much they love each other and would do anything for them, it's lovely storytelling.

I love the humor and the relationship between the brothers. Jensen and Jared have such amazing chemistry together. I think the show would be very different if the two of them weren't such close friends in real life.

I voted yes. What a great opportunity to meet other fan girls!!! You lucky duck! *lol* It's the people that make fandom so much fun and you never know who you'll be able to hook up with while you're there. And just how many cons are likely to happen right next door?

Here? Actually, quite a few. The big Creation Supernatural con last November was held about 10 minutes from here in a hotel that regularly hosts WindyCon. Creation's other hotel where they hold the Fangoria and Stargate cons is about 20 minutes from here in the same hotel that also hosted the last ZebraCon (ZCon's regular con hotel is 15 minutes from where I work). The Midwest's largest anime convention, Anime Central, is at a hotel about 25 minutes from here in a clump of hotels where I've gone to countless cons (Doctor Who, Blake's 7, The Man from UNCLE, and general media cons). I have also been to a MUNCLE con at a hotel about 5 minutes from here. Anyway, my cup runneth over on that front.

WinchestMidwest would be a good chance to meet more localish fangirls. The ones I normally meet are from all over the country (and sometimes from other countries), so it would be nice to meet some fellow fans that were closer to home.

Yes, you should go.

Evidently only LJ members can actually use the poll, so I'll just chime in here.

Yes, I think you should go. It's so cheap, and so close to your house that if you've got a break or hate it you can just go home. You might find some good zines, or get a couple of good panels. Go for it!

Actually, I'd love to, but that's the weekend we're leaving for Oregon. See! Now you have no excuse at all- you won't be driving to my house on Sunday. And you'll have to have some really good stories to tell when we get back together. You can tell me about the con, and I can tell you about the latest methods in how to survive a really long trip with my Dad.
