Now that Torchwood is recruiting guest stars from across the pond, is it wrong of me to have spent the entire episode fantasizing they'd have Nicholas Lea on someday? Oh c'mon, he'd be perfect.

I got really tired of Torchwood pouting about how Jack left them when he's supposed to be their leader and take care of them. It's not like they ever listened to him when he was there, and, umm, they mutinied and shot him in the last episode. Gosh, I can't imagine why he'd need a break from all the love and respect. And he's still the only one with stones enough to do the unpleasant jobs they balk at. Maybe they were just pissed off about him leaving because they had to do their own dirty work for a change. ::rereads what she just wrote:: Wow, my resentment hasn't dimmed at all between seasons. ;-)

The scene between Gwen and Jack where she told him Rhys had proposed to her boggled my mind. The whole pointed "while you were away" and "no one else will have me" speech made it sound like she thought she and Jack had something going. Not to mention the "Tell Jack..." at the end. Does she not remember that she spent most of last season banging Owen? I know I'll never recover from that trauma. Maybe she has PTOS (Post Traumatic Owen Syndrome).

Tosh looked like she was still holding a torch for Owen. God alone knows why, although I was so overcome with hostility for Gwen this episode that Owen barely registered for me.

I was waiting for someone to make a crack about Capt. John Hart channeling Adam Ant, but no one ever did...until now. I loved him tacking a "help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope" onto his holographic message for Jack, and the bar fight between the captains was fun.

I think I need a 'Ianto + stopwatch = OTP' icon.

Yay for Jack asking Ianto out on a proper date! Yay for Ianto accepting! I don't suppose we'll be lucky enough to see the actual date, but I can dream.

Gwen doing leader things at the beginning was cool, but otherwise she sucked in this ep.

I loved everybody agonizing over Jack leaving to face Captain John alone except for Ianto, who was very practical in calling a cab to go after him.

I hope to see the date, but who knows?

Gwen doing leader things at the beginning was cool, except for how I kept wondering how the rookie wound up in charge. And Owen didn't follow her orders either, so I guess he just has authority issues in general, not just with Jack.

I loved that, too. That, and him standing there blithely collecting all of Capt. John Hart's weapons when Hart first arrived at the hub. [livejournal.com profile] smallwaldo was calling it "the tea tray of mass destruction."

Of the crew, she seems to be the one most in line with the idea of a chain of command, aside from Ianto, who probably never even considered the thought of taking charge. Tosh doesn't command anything, and Owen is anti-authority as far as I can figure. Also, the whining, smirking smartass type isn't very good in leadership roles, because who wants to take orders from that?

The tea tray of mass destruction was cute.

Being in charge of the Torchwood lot is rather like herding cats on a good day. Nobody takes orders from anybody, even when those orders make sense.

I loved everybody bitching about Jack in the taxi, then grudgingly admitting that things were more fun when he was there.

I was confused at the Jack/Gwen scene, too. Yeah, he flirted a little with her in season one, but never gave any indication (at least to me) that he would have taken anything further....

And yeah, we'll probably never get to see Jack and Ianto's date....I'm wondering if things will keep happening to get in the way of them even going on it...

the star wars reference in the hologram image was classic!!!!!

I can see Nicholas Lea fitting in quite well on this show...

Me, either. And let's face it, Jack flirts with everyone. It's his default setting.

I could totally see that turning into the running gag for the season. I'd really like to see the actual date, though.

>>I'd really like to see the actual date, though.<<

Me, too. Doesn't even have to be a long scene...the end of the evening....Jack dropping Ianto off at his flat....and Ianto inviting him in....

Nick Lea on Torchwood? I'd be having kittens, the joy would be so great. Especially if he was as rat-like as Krycek was.

Ianto seriously rocked this episode. He delivers those one liners with such aplomb. I hope they make it his thing. He was my fav of the team members. Owen annoys me. Gwen is still playing both sides of the fence and I'd rather she made her mind up. Tosh has potential but I suspect they're not going to make the most of her.

As for the bar fight, well there was a rousing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus going off in my brain.

Having a relationship with Jack seems to be doing wonders for Ianto. He seems to be on a much more even keel now.

I would love to see Tosh staying at the hub and acting like a coordinator, researching and passing along information to those in the field, giving directions to the team based on satellite telemetry or sensor readings, and that kind of thing. I like Tosh, but her personality is just not suited to field work.

And I would like for Owen and Gwen to suffer a tragic, career-ending accident and be replaced by characters that don't make me want to smack them continuously.

I like the vibe between the two of them. Ianto seems more like himself and certainly more pulled together.

And it's not like she's miss out on the hi-jinks if she stayed in the hub. They are always getting into trouble there.
