Temperature Patterns 2022-2024

It looks like I've been forgetting to post these to Dreamwidth, so I have 3 years' worth.





2022: The pattern is by StitchinMommy on Etsy, although I didn’t use her colors–I used the colors I’ve been using since 2018 to be consistent. The fabric is basic 20 ct. white lugana.

2023: The pattern is by StitchinMommy on Etsy, although I didn’t use her colors–I used the colors I’ve been using since 2018. The fabric is 18 ct. aida in the color Glacier by Vintage Needle Arts. The photo makes it look like a Wedgwood blue, but it’s more of a robin’s egg blue that my camera somehow refuses to see and that I can only color correct to Wedgwood without blowing out the butterflies.

2024: The pattern is by Climbing Goat Designs, although I didn’t use their colors--I used the colors I’ve been using since 2018. The fabric is 20 ct. lugana in the color Little Boy Blue by Zweigart.

All really pretty in different ways. Do I see lightning bolts in the 2024 pattern?

Yes! The default pattern was a square-within-a-square, but it also came with about a hundred little motifs for weather, hobbies, holidays, letters, numbers, and a bunch of other things. However, sometimes I couldn't find any little motif for something I wanted to put in, so I made some myself. The lightning bolt was one, as was the tornado, the flag, the dagger on the Ides of March, and some other ones. The lightning bolt was for days when the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for my area.

That's so neat! How long have you been doing these? Do you have the previous years' finished works (charts?) stored somewhere or do you frame them to hang on your wall or make them into pillows or...?

I started doing them in 2018. I'd seen other people stitching them and I kind of had it on my radar as something I wanted to do someday, but in January 2018 we had a cold front come through that dropped the temperature from 57°F to around 13°F in a matter of hours and I just had to know what that would look like on a temperature chart, so I started one right then.

I just do them for fun, so right now they're all in a bin in my closet. I think the only one I would consider framing is the butterflies, or maybe the tree I did in 2021.
