When I first started pulling together the fic I wanted to rec for this challenge, I hit a stumbling block in that some of my older fandoms were zine based didn't have much of an internet presence, and some of the ones that did no longer do. So many fic archives have disappeared over the years and aren't even available via the Wayback Machine, but I really wanted to limit myself to fic online because there's no point in reccing fic to people that they have no way to read. So imagine my delight when I accidentally discovered that my favorite zine fic from Man From UNCLE fandom is now available on AO3 and had only been uploaded last December and January. If I'd done this challenge last year, I wouldn't have been able to include them.
This is a gen series of spy adventures with great characterizations, with the bonus of giving Illya a found family (besides Napoleon) in the Grahams, who are assigned to help Illya acclimate to living in America and end up basically adopting him. Each story includes the original zine cover art by the late Warren Oddsson, though not the interior art.

Napoleon had lost partners before, but there had always been a corpse and a reason, something to finalize the horror so he could focus his attention on exacting justice. Or revenge.
The announcement had simply been tacked on the bulletin board next to the coffee machine. It was brief and to the point. Illya Kuryakin had left his apartment at 7:35 a.m. on March 20. He had never shown up at the U.N.C.L.E. buildings. No one had seen him since. There were no letters, no demands, no clues. And no body. Until further notice, his status was missing, presumed dead.
