"I swear to God, if this thing turns into a zombie attack, I am quitting."

Actually, I would've enjoyed a zombie attack.

This ep was the season finale. There were two basic stories going on. One involved Stark, Carter, and Taggart trying to stop what they thought was a spreading contagion inside Global Dynamics, while the other involved Henry, Beverly, and Allison fighting over artifact-connected Kevin.

The story with Carter, Stark, and Taggart was kind of fun. They set out to stop a spreading contagion before Global's sterilization protocols kicked in and killed everyone in the facility. Meanwhile, Global's containment protocols were active, so the guys had to fight their way through the building à la The Andromeda Strain. Eventually, Taggart left to lead a group of Global employees to safety, leaving Stark and Carter to work together. It was a lot of fun watching them overcome their mutual dislike to get the job done. I won't say they're friends now, but they did seem to develop more of a mutual respect by the time it was all over.

That leads us to the other plot, in which Beverly tried to play reluctant hero and claim she was trying to save Kevin from people who would only use him (yeah, like you, Beverly). Meanwhile, the connection to the artifact was killing Kevin. Henry turned out to be playing along with Beverly (to the point of faking the contagion that Stark and Carter were trying to contain) in order to save Kevin. I suspect this plot was meant to be suspenseful. There was a little boy's life at stake while his mother tried desperately to figure out who to trust so she could save him. There were two problems with that. One, Kevin has gotten so little screen time this season, and the young actor who plays him is so wooden, that I didn't feel anything about him or his plight. The other problem is that his mother, Allison, who I really liked last season, has only had two facial expressions this season and has been reduced to a talking head, instead of the kickass government investigator she was last season. She now bores me far too much to feel anything about her plight. End result? No suspense felt here.

In the end, Beverly got away, which I kind of expected, but it still annoyed me. She's now gotten away with two murders, but the other characters only know about one. And after a whole season of trying to bring down Beverly for killing the love of his life, Henry was too 'oh, well' about her escape. Meanwhile, Henry got arrested for faking the contagion that nearly led to the destruction of Global. Still no resolution on the Henry/Jack friendship, although I'm starting to think that Henry is over the hate he felt towards Jack over Kim's death.

There was one tiny little throwaway acknowledgment that Jo and Taggart used to be an item. I was wondering if that was ever going to come up.

SG-1 sighting: Barclay Hope (Col. Lionel Pendergast, commander of the Prometheus). Matt Frewer was also in this ep playing Taggart. Barclay Hope and Matt Frewer co-starred in PSI Factor together back in the '90s. And yes, it did take me all season to notice that. ::headdesk::

All in all, the resolution of the season long story arcs left me very disappointed, but I did love watching Stark and Carter play action hero together. Eureka has been renewed for a third season, so I hope Henry comes back.
