Title: Say It's Here Where Our Pieces Fall in Place

Pairing: Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian
REC
This is a modern, non-cultivation AU in which Lan Wangji discovers the barista he's been crushing on used to be the daytime caregiver of his adopted son. I love the canon era cultivation stories, but I also love modern AUs for how they let the story just focus on the characters and their daily lives.
Canon mostly gave us Wei Wuxian with A-Yuan when he was little and Lan Wangji with Sizhui when he was a teen, so it's nice to see Lan Wangji parenting a little A-Yuan. Also, modern setting means that Wei Wuxian can get, just, all the therapy ever. The blowout scene with Jiang Cheng is one of my favorites.
TEASER
Jiang Cheng looked like he was trying to swallow a rock. "Okay, well... you still do that, though. You were a kid then, but you still do that. You still act like you going away is the way to solve everybody's problems. I don't know where the hell you got that idea."
He heard himself say, in perfect grade-school cadence, "Your mom."
