Account Expiring

LJ just sent me a notice that my paid account is expiring. It gave me a bit of a nostalgic pang, but LJ isn't what it once was. I don't post there anymore and I only remember to check my flist once or twice a month. It's certainly not worth paying an annual fee for.

But you know what hit me harder? I'm about to lose all my extra icons. I'm one of those people who had 100+ icons and had one for every mood, occasion, or fandom. My icons were carefully chosen to be a commentary on each post and comment. And now most of them are going to be gone.

I suppose it doesn't really matter. It's not like anyone is going to be reading eight year old comment threads I participated in at this late date. But dammit, I miss having an arsenal of icons at my disposal.

You have different icons on LJ than on DW? (I copied my LJ icons to DW.)

I didn't pay for the extra icon package on DW, so I had to pare my 107 LJ icons down to the 15 allotted by DW. That also meant having broader categories of icons, as opposed to the really specific ones I had on LJ. Which ultimately meant that some of my LJ icons made it over here, but I also chose some different ones to represent those broader categories. I think 6 of my 11 current icons were ones I used on LJ.
