Squeaking in just under the wire...

Sorry, I really had to watch the season premiere of Grimm last week and then the rest of the week got away from me.

This wasn't a terrible episode, but it was just kind of flat for me. I always prefer the teamy episodes to the ones that focus on Steve, even though I like Steve.

My favorite part was definitely Steve leaving a voice mail for Danny while checking up on him. Show has been doing a little better this season with putting things on screen instead of making us assume they happened.

Why does Halawa keep signing their prisoners out to Five-0? It never works out well. Has Five-0 ever had an on-loan prisoner not escape or get shot?

Still don't care about Jerry. Can I preemptively roll my eyes now over what I'm sure is an imminent scene in which everyone apologizes to Jerry for not taking his conspiracy theories more seriously and they all develop a newfound respect for him? Maybe there will be cake. I hope Kono puts salt in it.

I think the thing that bugs me the most about Jerry is that if they really needed a kooky off beat hanger-on who occasionally can actually come in handy, they already had Toast. Who was cooler.

I miss Toast. :( Not a complete fan of Jerry either, because he's always right. Would have been nice if he got into trouble because he wasn't right this time. That could've been an interesting story line.

And that right there is the problem I see with Jerry being a regular. If he's wrong too often, he looks like a cartoon stereotype of a conspiracy theorist, but if he's right too often, that would be completely implausible because real life is not chockablock with conspiracies.

Not necessarily. For instance, they used Jerry to look at video images because they needed all the manpower they could get. That was a good use of him. Jerry's good at extracting information from piles upon piles of paperwork, also a good use of him. Jerry's good at cracking codes and making connections, so let him look at the champ box (aside from the outside code under the paint, where he was already helpful). Max is a regular too, but they use him sparingly and therefore it works. I liked Jerry's storyline with the realtor (sp?). Have him move into McGarrett's basement again for a little while (cue two episodes of awkward moments before Jerry finds a flat). Have a case with a conspiracy theorist and call in Jerry to interview him because he "speaks the same language".

Then, somewhere half way through the season, after we've gotten little Jerry moments sprinkled through episodes, where he's a bit of a conspiracy nut (interviewing McGarrett about secret projects and just getting "I can neither confirm or deny" and Steve being all "can we please talk about something else?"), then give us this storyline where he's right and no one believes him.

Show could do that, but I strongly suspect it's not going to.
