H50 Ep: Pa Make Loa

Grr. I have to work tomorrow night, so I won't get to see the end until Wednesday. No fair!

You know, when I heard that The Prophet Chuck Rob Benedict was going to be on tonight's episode, I thought it was going to be a bigger part than a photograph and a five second voiceover. I guess I'll have to catch him on NCIS:LA.

It's a real shame Steve couldn't have been in this ep with his SEAL buddy Sam Hanna, but I think the writers did a decent job of writing around him. There was plenty of good character stuff for the rest of the cast.

I really liked the teeny tiny character moments the most: Danny having a key and the alarm code to Steve's house, Sam crushing on the Camaro, Chin and Kono's cousin moments, and Danny crossing himself before entering the experiment quarantine area.

Danny seemed very subdued this ep. I think he's missing his BFF Steve. Fortunately he had another SEAL handy to have carguments with, and this SEAL even let Danny drive his own car. I really hope that Sam lets Steve know that he named Danny's Camaro Winifred. I can see future carguments stemming from Steve's insistence on calling the car Winnie, while Danny rotates through names as everyone keeps talking him out of them.

Since Steve, Danny, and Chin all have significant others now, I figured it was only a matter of time before Kono got one. Any bets on who the mystery date is? I'm going to put my money on Charlie, just because I like him.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Steve hears all about this after he gets back.

I would like to be a fly on the wall for the epic asswhumping Steve is going to get from Danny when he gets back. He broke my heart, poor dear, with his unadulterated pining. Steve deserves a pretty good Danno-shout-out for this stunt.

I too would so love for it to be Fong. It would make a world of sense after the first episode he shows up in. Most of the time it's Kono who's bringing evidence to him. I really do hope that crush from season one has become a proper relationship.

Chin teasing Kono about her boyfriend was priceless! I'm half-suspecting that it will turn out to be Steve letting someone know he's still alive, although I don't think Kono would be cruel enough not to tell Danny and Chin, no matter what Steve told her to do. Charlie as an actual boyfriend would be interesting.

I like that writers are keeping Danny and Steve's bromance going even while Steve is gone. They're doing a good job of showing Danny being worried and trying to figure out what Steve is doing, without getting too stupid about go haring off on his own. I completely agree with you about Steve deserving a punch, a rant, and a hug.

I would love to see Steve pick up on Sam's name for Danny's car. I keep thinking about the musical "Once Upon a Mattress" and the song "I'm in Love with a Girl Named Fred," however. Danny needs to remember that his daughter will ride in that car before he decides he's ok with it having a "stripper name."

There was one thing that kept bugging me in this episode though. Were HPD and the CDC really busy, or has Steve been rubbing off on everyone? "Oh, hey, we found where the bad guys are almost certainly doing their smallpox testing. Let's run down there without calling for backup!" "Hmm, that didn't work, so let's try it again with the bio-weapon sale in a really crowded tourist spot!" Sigh.

Also, I hope that someone takes the time to vaccinate our heroes against smallpox. No, it won't be for that particular strain, but I would think that vaccinating them against a known strain might help their bodies resist the related virus. (I should probably ask M about that though. I may be wrong and they'd be equally toast either way.)

I hope not. Kono was acting too much like a high school girl who got a text from a cute boy. And Danny was the only one who got a goodbye letter, so I think if Steve texted anyone, it would be him.

Danny needs to remember that his daughter will ride in that car before he decides he's ok with it having a "stripper name."

At her age, she would have no idea what strippers are named. If anything, she'd be thinking of Misty of Chincoteague.

According to the NIH, "If the smallpox vaccine is given within 1-4 days after a person is exposed to the disease, it may prevent illness or make the illness less severe." At the very least, it couldn't hurt.

You've got a good point on Kono's response to the text. My mind just went in a weird direction with that scene, probably from reading too much Sherlock fan-fic about Life after Reichenbach. ;>

True, but Danny has been shown to have a complete lack of sense regarding his baby girl and sex. Grace wouldn't think anything of the name, but Danny would probably freak out the first time he realized that his little girl was in a car with a "stripper name." Of course, the rest of the team would probably find this hysterically funny.
