Oh, Ben Edlund, how I've missed you. Even though I was totally on to you.
One thing I wish the show would do more often is to revisit people Sam and Dean have encountered on cases. My ultimate dream is for them to meet someone they once helped who is now a hunter. After all, isn't that how all the hunters we've met got started? By having some supernatural tragedy upend their lives?
Dean has commented at the end of more than one ep that the now exorcised person was going to need bucketloads of therapy, and we never really got to see any fallout from when Sam was possessed, so when Jeffrey started talking about his drinking and ultimate committal, my first thought was that this would be a great opportunity to follow up on someone who's been possessed. And what if the experience of being possessed really did break him and cause him to commit these murders on his own, nothing supernatural required?
But Jeffrey didn't turn out to be a case of what could happen if an average person was possessed and forced to commit atrocities. Jeffrey had a design flaw to start with. But that still led to the interesting idea of a demon "talent scout" looking for people who already had the necessary building blocks and just needed a little push to get going on their own. One of these days I'd really like to see how a regular person copes with the aftermath of being possessed, but this was cool too.
Sam must have an unbelievably strong will if he's been ignoring that kind of taunting from Lucifer for months. And all it took for Lucifer to get his foot in the door was to make Sam consider--just for a second--that his brother might be dead. I still want to know if that's the real Lucifer, or just a product of Sam's extremely screwed up brain. It's going to be a long wait until March 9.

Date: 2012-02-18 05:40 pm (UTC)From:This was a major plot point in the episode that introduced demon lore - Phantom Traveler. They made the point that in order for a demon to possess someone they had to have a flow - a chink in their armor - for example, the original guy was afraid of flying.
I truly love Mark Pellegrino in this - he's always fun, but he was exceptionally so in this episode. I need to watch it again soon so I make sure to catch everything he said.
I loved the irony of Dean talking about how psychos pretend that there's nothing wrong with them, when Sam is sitting right there - pretending there's nothing wrong with him.

It seems that The CW's clever "March 9th" promo needs a major fix! The CW officially decided yesterday to push back Supernatural's return a week to March 16th. The info comes courtesy of Producer Todd Aronauer:
@TAronauer: #supernatural ep16 will air march 16. @CW_network made it official yesterday. Sorry fans.
I suppose that will mean one less week for break between episode 16 and the season finale. Gotta find that silver lining.
So Boo!
