It definitely makes me sad that this con keeps getting smaller and smaller, but one of the side benefits is that panels are starting later in the day. No more dragging my butt out of bed at the crack of dawn to attend an 8:00 a.m. panel, only to discover that no one else had managed to drag their butts out of bed at the crack of dawn and I was the only one there.

I finally managed to get [livejournal.com profile] jennetj's binders of Pros circuit fic back to her this morning. I also did another pass through the dealer room but managed not to buy anything else.

The first panel I tried for the day was for Hawaii Five-0, but it turned out to be structured as a pro and con with one mod liking the show and the other not. Since I've already made up my mind on that topic, I popped over to another panel on whether or not TPTB are too involved with fans in social media. Opinions varied from those who think it's okay for TPTB to read a smattering of posts on multiple sites to get a feel for fan reactions but that they should definitely not interact with said fans, to those who think these are exciting times for fandom and that the current level of fan interaction with shows is only a harbinger of things to come. One person believes that someday soon we'll have TV shows that are more like choose-your-own-adventure novels where viewers can interact with the show directly and choose the direction of the story.

After that, I went to a really fun Pros party in the party suite. We started out with snacks and songvids, then moved on to a trivia game. There were standard trivia questions, but there were also video trivia questions where the mod would play a scene and freeze it, and we'd have to say what happened next. There was also video trivia where we'd have to name the guest star and name one other thing he or she had appeared in. I am not the Pros trivia expert that most of the other people were, but I still managed to win one round as part of a three-way tie. I eventually got another prize too just because not all of the prizes had been handed out and the person who brought them didn't want to take them home again. The party ended with a cool bingo game where the spaces were the names of episodes and the cards had trivia questions on them. We (as a group) had to figure out the name of the episode from the trivia question before we could mark it down on our cards.

Immediately following that in the party suite was a fannish bake sale to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I scored a chocolate frosted brownie and a cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

Then it was time for Holy Mother Grammatica's annual grammar panel. We spent much of it talking about our various grammar pet peeves, followed by fic bloopers. I only had two this year:

1) The last time he saw Jensen it was one week and seven days ago.

and

2) She'll always remember the look on her father's face as one that she'd never forget.

After that, I tried to go to the Sherlock (BBC version) panel. It was really crowded, so I hopped over to another panel on whether printed books are on the way out in favor of e-books. That one turned out to be Jean Lorrah mostly talking about her own career and promoting her new books, so I ended up having dinner instead.

After dinner, I stopped in at the Hawaii Five-0 party, but it was a little too loud for me, so I headed down to a general discussion panel on the Donald Strachey movies, with some side discussion of the books they're based on. Then I sat through the slash vids again and turned in my vid competition ballot. I'm busily downloading one of those vids in another window as I type this.

Only one full day left.

Heh, if you'd been near the end of the Hawaii Five-O panel, you would have seen the Dalek invade. That certainly made it loud again ;)

I've never seen a group of people get so noisy and excited about ring-toss.
