Is it wrong that the biggest reason I was looking forward to tonight's episode was that I wanted to see the trailer for next week's episode? I can't wait!

But meanwhile...

I'm sorry they killed off Rick Springfield before the opening credits. I haven't seen him in anything in ages. He's still my favorite Nick Knight.

H50 has always name-dropped local businesses and personalities, but tonight's ep had some product placement I can totally get behind. The Mauli Ola Foundation is a real charitable organization whose VP is a friend of Scott Caan's. Scott has volunteered for them before. Too bad Danny doesn't surf. It would have been fun to see Danny volunteering for a charity that Scott supports.

I loved seeing BAMF!Danny again tonight, and I love how he makes his size work for him. He never tackles people who are bigger than he is (which is pretty much everybody); he cuts them off and trips them, or hits them in the face with a sailboat boom, or throws hot charcoal in their faces.

I'm having a little trouble suspending my disbelief for the lengths Chin is going to in protecting his uncle. His uncle is obviously suffering a crisis of conscience and wants to accept responsibility for what he did, but I can see why Chin wouldn't want him to go to prison. Trying to talk his uncle into recanting his confession? Totally understandable. Lying to IA to try to counter his uncle's confession? Okay. He's used to people thinking he's guilty anyway. Offering his home up to a loan shark to acquire $200,000 to fake his own guilt? That was a little extreme and the show didn't really sell me on it. And I'm not seeing this end well.

Have I mentioned I can't wait until next week's episode? And all the fic it will hopefully inspire afterward? I can't wait until next week's episode and all the fic it will hopefully inspire afterward!

Chin seemed more worried about all his uncle's cases getting re-opened, which I guess I get, but the extenuating circumstances, while still making his uncle guilty, wouldn't have made him look dirty, or at least I don't think so. I suspect at his age and with all that happened, the HPD would have just fined him, given him probation and made him pay the money back. Or is that just a Canadian thing?

That trailer for next week destroyed me in a million ways, and I don't know that I will survive next Monday *L*

It's hard to tell. I doubt Chin's uncle would do hard time because of his age, but the fine thing doesn't really sound likely either. But I totally wouldn't put it past any defense attorney or jailhouse lawyer in the state to use that as an excuse to get the uncle's old cases reviewed.

Danny and Steve both had nice foot-chases tonight, but the hot charcoal trick was a winner for me, too. I'm alternating between disappointment and amusement at the lackluster banter over Danny interviewing swimsuit models. He and Steve have gotten more worked up about what to order for lunch!

I'm with you on Chin and the loan shark. That just has Bad Idea written all over it. Is Chin really that interested in keeping his martyr complex??

I saw your pre-cut comment on the trailer, so I actually watched it this week. (I usually skip them; too many networks put a show's entire plot in the trailer.) It looks like the next couple of weeks will be eventful! I hope these last episodes give people enough inspiration to make it through the season break. ;>

Some of the staff writers (or maybe just one writer; I'd have to check the credits) just aren't very good at the banter. There have been a couple of banter scenes in other episodes that just made me cringe. No wonder Alex and Scott improvise so much of it. There was no cargument this week though, so they didn't really get a chance.

The PTB better have been saving the good writers for that and the season finale, it would be nice to get some good banter in next week before Danny's out for the count. Also, I think it's safe to say that that episode will inspire some fanfic -- I've seen at least two pieces inspired by the trailers alone!

I really, really hope so. I'm looking forward to it. And I kind of wish the ep had aired last Monday so I could have that fic now. I finally got caught up on AO3 and now I have nothing to read while I'm on the desk for 7.5 hours on Saturday.

I just spotted a fic tagged for the new episode on Hawaii 5-0 Slash, and the discussion post on that community has 315 comments as of 10:45pm. As of 10:02, the episode discussion post on Steve/Danno Slash already had 76 comments. I'm betting this one's a good episode.

I can't wait until tomorrow night when I can watch it! I was thinking about watching it tonight if Fred's class ran late, so of course he got out early for once.

I track the 3 main discussion posts and have all the comments delivered to my email. I'm wading through them now, even though it's past my bedtime and I have a ton of things I need to do before I go to work at 1:00.

I won't spoil you, but there're some great moments in the ep.
