You hear that? No, you don't. Only dogs can hear the squeeing I'm doing right now.

Kudos to Scott Caan for the way he's been playing Danny. From day one I never doubted that he came from a huge family just from the way he talks and acts. And, yes, it turns out he has at least one brother and at least two sisters.

Is it wrong of me to want Matt to come back just so Danny or Steve can punch him in the face? Maybe once each? Danny is so loyal that he wouldn't even consider that his brother might be doing something crooked, and even when he found out for sure that Matt was hip deep and digging himself deeper, it never occurred to Danny that Matt wouldn't do the right thing and take responsibility for his actions. The conversation between the two of them at the airport just about broke my heart.

The Steve/Danny interaction in this episode was brilliant. From Steve tagging along to meet Danny's brother, to Steve recognizing Danny's tone again and dropping everything to help him deal with Matt (apparently Matt's not the only one who can talk Danny off ledges), to their confrontations with the FBI guys and the bomber, the two of them were a solid team every second, both personally and professionally.

People have been telling me not to worry about Danny getting back together with Rachel, but it seems like the show has been headed that way since her first appearance. Heck, even Danny's brother ships them. I just hope Rachel doesn't cheat on StepStan with Danny. Extramarital affairs are a push button issue for me. I won't mind losing respect for Rachel because I don't have any particularly strong feelings about her one way or the other, but I do not want to lose respect for Danny. He's been such a stand-up guy so far. Plus, the issues that caused Rachel to leave Danny in the first place are still there; I don't see this working out any better the second time around.

Random things that amused me:

• Grace's pose with her princess tiara and wand.

• The FBI agent's face when he realized that Steve really does have the governor on speed dial.

• Steve having a much harder time than Danny sitting on the curb outside the school.

So much love for this one...Scott was fantastic. I think I gushed about pretty much everything you mentioned, but I'm still nodding along here, smiling stupidly. And Steve did take a bit more time folding his long legs up to sit on that curb - that was a great shot and a great scene. =)

Yeah, this episode had a lot of great interaction. I loved that Steve was automatically welcomed to dinner with everyone and seemed to get along beautifully with Danny's brother. The chemistry between Scott Caan and the guy playing his brother was amazing -- enough similarities and familiarity that the relationship was very believable.

I liked that Rachel picked up on the fact that something was bothering Danny at the beach, although I really hope that the writers don't shove them back together. Their marriage exploded horribly the first time. Trying again, when they would be starting by cheating on her new husband, would be a Bad Idea.

What sort of fallout is Danny going to get from all of this? He really did interfere with an FBI investigation, after all, although it seems like they don't have much proof. (And seriously, the FBI didn't bug the hotel room? What the heck??) The writers are throwing a lot of different plot lines around; they're going to have to pick some of this stuff up again eventually.

That was an excellent piece of casting. Scott Caan and Dane Cook totally came off as brothers. And Dane Cook is mostly known for his stand-up comedy!

So did Steve. I'm hoping there are some repercussions, but realistically there's only so much the show can do. No one is going to tune in to watch Steve and Danny sit in their jail cells for a couple of seasons.

Personally, I'm hoping and praying that Matt gets hired as an accountant in Wo Fat's organization. Imagine the angst there as Steve tries to take down Wo Fat, and Danny and Matt wind up on opposite sides of that battle.

Good point, although I'm sure the fanfic communities would have fun with that. ;>

I missed the beginning with Wo Fat, but Danny and Matt ending up on opposite sides would be interesting. We already know that there are limits on what Danny will do to Matt. How far will Matt go to protect himself if Danny's in danger?

I want to know what happens next, so the break in new episodes is frustrating, but it will be nice to fill in some holes with re-runs while we wait.

I'm kind of looking forward to the break. I have some DVDs to watch and some reading to do that I haven't had time for.
