This episode gave me flashbacks like whoa.

Was there ever a Mannequin 2? I dimly remember the Andrew McCarthy/Kim Cattrall movie from the '80s ("remember" in the sense of knowing it existed, not "remember" in the sense of having seen it, because no--just no).

Rose invisibly slicing her victims' foreheads reminded me of Sylar on Heroes. The janitor even looked a bit like Matt Parkman.

The killer mannequins reminded me of the first episode of the new Doctor Who reboot, which was coincidentally (or not) called "Rose."

And in the 'the more things change, the more they stay the same' department, Dean still has low self-esteem and daddy issues that make him want to stay far away from Lisa and Ben, Sammy can still work the puppy eyes, and Dean still can't say no to Sammy's puppy eyes.

It was nice to see the EMF detector back. It's been awhile. And it was nice to see that Resouled!Sam still has a sense of humor. He used to have one back in the first three seasons, but it's been awhile for that too. I loved his matter-of-fact "that was a ghost trying to kill you for being a dick" to Johnny.

This episode gave Sam flashbacks too. Poor Dean sounded like he was going to bust out sobbing when Sam wouldn't wake up. Was anyone else waiting for Rose's burning corpse to give Sam another Hell flashback later, or was that just me?

I wish Rose's kidney being in Isabelle had been more of an issue. I'd really like to see the boys have to struggle with what to do in a situation like that, not have the situation kind of sort itself out two minutes later.

Why did I get this horrible foreboding feeling when the episode ended with Sam saying, "I got your back?" Am I paranoid? Have I been watching the show too long? I guess time will tell.

See, for me, the "I got your back" comment was reassuring. A few months ago, Soulless!Sam might have said the same thing, but you wouldn't have felt it. You might even be suspicious of him for saying it. Now, there's no question--his heart and soul is behind that statement. Of course, it could also be foreshadowing doom lurking just around the corner. Or maybe I'm in denial. *lalalalalala*

This was kind of a "meh" episode for me. At the end, I came away with a resounding impression of how nice Sam's hair looked in the last scene. So that's my review: "Great hair, Sam."

Oh, I totally believe Sam means it. It's just that he said that and the episode instantly ended, like the writers wanted us to remember that moment before everything goes pear-shaped.

I definitely flashed back to the end of "Twi-Hard" with the "I've got your back" line.

Ditto for the struggling with the ethical and practical dilemma of the donated kidney.

Johnny talking to the sex doll - OMG WTF!!! I thought for a minute that his brand of crazy was going to have something to do with the haunting.

I did too! Before that, he was just an immature douchebag, but having a mannequin girlfriend was that extra special bit of creepy that momentarily made me think there was more to it than just Rose getting her revenge.

I loved how blunt Sam was with Johnny. What a freaky dude, talking to his Real Doll like it was his girlfriend... And yeah, I was waiting for Sam to have more Hell flashbacks when he was standing over the burning grave, too!

The easy solution to the kidney problem was also annoying to me. I would have liked to have seen that story stretched out a bit more. Instead, they had to splice in scenes of Dean with Lisa and Ben. I don't mind those scenes, but they did NOT seem to fit spliced in with the scenes of Sam with Johnny.

I actually like Lisa & Ben, and I'm glad the show hasn't forgotten about them, but I agree they didn't seem to belong in this particular episode.

There's so much hate for Lisa and Ben, but I thought that they did a really good job this episode. I felt for both of them so much, and when Ben told Dean off I did a fist bump. The poor kid has a pic of the three of them together on his nightstand, and Dean's just like: I'm no good for you, kid. ;__;

Dean's daddy issues keep getting in the way. He's trying not to hurt Ben, but the way he's going about it is unintentionally hurting Ben.

Count me in the paranoid category for the "I got your back" comment too.

ext_6977: (Mannequin)
There was a Mannequin 2. I checked imdb.com and found it as Mannequin 2: On the Move. Meshach Taylor's in it, but aside from that it's an all-new cast with Kristy Swanson (the original, movie, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as the mannequin this time.

I checked IMDb before I posted, but for some reason it didn't come up for me under a title search. I eventually found it through a link from Kristy Swanson's page after someone on Yahoo!Groups pointed it out to me.
