::quiet but hopeful squeeing::
Oct. 14th, 2008 06:01 pmBack in the late '90s, pretty much everybody in the Fraser/Kowalski end of the Due South pool owned a copy of the movie Hard Core Logo (I have 2 copies: VHS and the Canadian edition DVD with all the extras the U.S. DVD didn't have). It was marketed very badly so many people didn't like it because it wasn't what they thought it was going to be, but those of us in fandom who knew exactly what we were getting into were blown away by the chemistry between Hugh Dillon (Joe Dick) and Callum Keith Rennie (Billy Tallent) in a tragic love story between two people, only one of whom realized he was involved in a love story. I've been waiting a long time for someone to put that chemistry to good use again.
The good news is that director Bruce McDonald is planning three sequels to Hard Core Logo, one of which is scheduled to start shooting in January 2009. One will be about Joe Dick and Bucky Haight, another about Joe and Billy (\0/), and one about Joe and Billy's daughters and their band.
I suspect that the second and third sequel getting made will depend on how the first one does, so I'm really not holding my breath that any or all of these movies will see the light of day, but it would be so awesome to see Hugh Dillon and CKR on screen together again if this all works out.
