That's the first time since Stargate Atlantis got canceled.

I'm not sure I like them doing yet another AU season on Eureka. It's too hard to keep track of what's really happened and what hasn't and who knew what already. I also don't know how invested to get in what's happening now, because either the original timeline will be restored, or they'll just do another AU.

Was that a new actor playing Kevin? I can't tell if he looked different because I haven't seen him in 2 years (kids grow up so fast ::sniff::), or if it's because it's a different actor. If it's a different actor, I approve. The last one appeared by permission of the National Forestry Commission.

I was not expecting to like Haven, because I've never liked anything Stephen King-related. However, Haven seems to have more in common with The X-Files, what with the main character being an FBI agent who's open to extreme possibilities and a supernatural connection to the cases she investigates. I really liked the episode, though, and I liked most of the characters, which perversely worries me. Usually when I really like a show pilot, the show itself turns out to be crap. I hope that's not the case here. I'm already craving fic.

Oh we all watched Eureka last night and it was so funny because we were all disappointed in last season. Though technically it was part 2 of the season that they put off airing for a year...at any point, we had all said that if they didn't step up their game we probably wouldn't continue watching. Then this episode! We all approved, though the AU timeline is a bit of a :/. It was still a very fun hour.

I watched Haven this morning sans family and really liked it! Aside from the usual pilot issues (stiffness that comes from them all being new to one another), it has a lot of promise. I actually loved the twist of making the detective have the inability to feel pain and not just a 'high tolerance' LOL.

It's been a long wait for all these shows to start but so far I'm really enjoying what the summer is offering.

The Eureka ep was pretty good, and I'm glad Dr. Grant made the jump to 2010 (I liked him), but I'm really sick of all the AUs on that show. It completely disrupts my suspension of disbelief because I know everything that's happening is an alternative to their reality, so nothing that happens feels "real" to me (not that I think the show is a documentary...oh, you know what I mean) because I don't know when this alternate reality will end or who will be affected by it. For that other alternate reality where Kim lived and Carter was married to Allison, only Carter and Henry remember it.

I loved that! Think of the potential for whump fic! Just because he doesn't feel pain doesn't mean the injury doesn't affect him. He still has to keep his arm in a sling because he could rip out his stitches without feeling it. He may not feel pain from a head injury, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a brain bleed. And the doctor said he was a regular. I know it's way too soon (we hardly know the characters), but I want fic!

I have to admit any show that on the pilot episode has the lead male whumped twice and makes him have a life-threatening condition...*grin*

I know of the condition really well because they thought my second son had this as a child. He doesn't, but he's one of the few people that, it's not high tolerance, rather his nerves don't register anything until it's super serious. Small cuts, burns, etc go unfelt. If he gets badly burned, he'll feel it, if he gets an ear infection, it takes it getting *severely* infected before he registers it, and so on. So with him, by the time he tells us something hurts, it's serious. :(

Anyway, the condition is completely life-threatening and while I'm sure the show won't handle it perfectly, it opens so many possibilities, just like you mentioned. He can't feel it but it puts him at more risk *because* of it!!!

I want fic too LOL! I'm really excited to see how the show develops and since I loved the X-Files so much, I'm more than ready for a similar show/premise to be back on the air.

Especially if it's good. Most of the X-Files-inspired shows have been crap. I've been getting my supernatural fix from, well, Supernatural, but hunters outside the law don't have quite the same vibe as police/government investigators.

There were certainly some familiar faces. I especially liked Nicholas Campbell as the sheriff.
