Happy Birthday to Me

It's been 8 years since anyone celebrated my birthday at work, so I was really surprised this year. I had a string of birthday flags bordering the top of my cubicle. The pillar to the right, the end of my filing cabinet, and my shelving unit were covered in wrapping paper that someone with a very good memory taped pictures of Callum Keith Rennie I'd never seen before to (CKR was my desktop wallpaper for years, first in a Due South publicity shot, then in a Twitch City publicity shot; the new pics came from a new movie, The Invisible, and he looked great). I also got a card and treats. Everybody knew that I didn't want any singing, so instead I was serenaded by the Suicide Kazoo Squad, who took their lives in their hands to regale me with "Happy Birthday" played on their kazoos. It was the most fun I'd had on my birthday in years.

Happy birthday! I would have done an announcement in my LJ on your birthday if I hadn't fell asleep at 7 p.m. and stayed asleep until 9 a.m. I am not liking my new medication....

I've been doing a lot of that myself lately, and I don't even have medication to blame for it. I had to take a nap after work on Monday, which is practically unheard of for this lifelong insomniac.

How do you do those crawling messages anyway?

Sparkly text is a little more challenging.


You use [span style="background: url(http://ukauctionhelp.co.uk/istore/sparkle.gif)"] [/span] and replace with < >.

That is definitely more challenging. I still can't do hyperlinks embedded in text unless I do a copy/paste from an LJ coding primer ellex42 did. Any time I want to do something more complicated than italics, I have her primer open in one tab.
