Wait...another Dabb & Loflin ep I didn't hate? I'm feeling a little faint. I think I need to go lie down for a minute.
I don't know if I have any meta this week. This may be just a post of random squee.
Matt Frewer as Pestilence? You have no idea how happy this makes me! The only Canadian actors I have left on my wish list now are Nicholas Lea, Chris Potter, and Gordon Michael Woolvett. Every other Canadian actor I've ever wanted to see on the show has already appeared.
My new favorite line: "Don't mock my world turtle!"
I loved seeing Sam and Dean working as a team. And when was the last time we saw the EMF meter?Super fantastic! Awesome!
I lost track of all the lines Dabb & Loflin stole from other properties. They quoted everything from I Love Lucy to Star Wars, but I have to give a shout-out to my two favorites: the "Next time I say 'let's keep driving,' let's keep driving"/"Next time" exchange which called back to one of my favorite scenes from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ("Next time I say 'let's go someplace like Bolivia,' let's go someplace like Bolivia"/"Next time"); and "Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up," which is of course from Army of Darkness ("Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? Thiiiiisss is my BOOMstick!").
Back when I was writing up the Trickster's first appearance, I called him Loki. I wasn't Kripke'd!
Hey, wait, I do have meta. One of my Yahoo!Groups has occasionally discussed the Judeo Christian nature of the apocalypse and wondered what the other gods were doing. I never thought we'd get an episode devoted to it. What a cool idea.
I've always thought that Sam and Dean would never be able to kill Lucifer and that the best they could do was to lock him back up. This is the first time the show has hinted that that's how things are really going play out.
I loved Gabriel's analogy of Lucifer being Dad's favorite and Lucifer basking in the favored spot...until Dad brought the new baby home. All that death and destruction brought about by a jealousy-fueled temper tantrum.
It was ironic that Gabriel kept trying to bow out of the fight because he didn't want to kill his brother, yet he was berating Dean for not wanting to kill Sam in the great angel condom battle.
I think we guessed at
winchestmidwest that Gabriel was going to stand with Sam and Dean. Too bad it got him killed. I'm going to miss him (not that death ever stopped a character from appearing in a future episode, right Adam?).
Lucifer looks like he's running out of time. Nick doesn't look like he's going to last much longer. Just say no, Sam!
I kind of want to just get the next episode out of the way so we can get on with the season finale now. I can't stand the suspense.
