Just when I thought it was safe to lose interest in this show...

For only the second time (Daphne was the first), I love a female character on Heroes. In fact, Emma may be the most well-adjusted character on the show right now. And her ability is very, very cool. I also loved how they shot scenes from her point of view so that she went from the brilliant cello playing to not being able to hear the applause because she's deaf. Emma? Please don't die.

Peter? Please hook up with Emma as soon as possible. I know you haven't had a great track record with girlfriends, what with them dying or getting stranded in plague-ridden futures and all, but you are currently without a babysitter and you know what that means? That means you're going to follow the first person who treats you nice, and right now that person is Samuel. You know, the guy who just sank a mansion because the rich people wouldn't put their dinner party on hold to give the son of former employees a tour of the carriage house that he probably could have gotten to himself, seeing as how he made it to the front door of the main house without any trouble? If you start following Samuel, it'll be volume 2 and Adam/Kensei and genocide all over again and nobody wants that, do they?

Peter is a glory hound? Really, Hesam? Really? Have you ever met anyone less interested in public notoriety than Peter? And yes, Peter tends to ditch you when you get to emergency scenes, but he was with you when the accidents or whatever actually happened, so how exactly could he be causing them? And to think I liked you up until now. You were my #1 choice for Peter's new babysitter. Now I'm going to have to pin my hopes on Emma.

Parkman? Remember how awesome you were when you were Molly's dad? ::sigh:: Yeah, me too. You know when it all started to go wrong? When you started doing what imaginary people told you to in volume 3. Are you sensing a pattern? Maybe Imaginary!Usutu and Imaginary!Sylar could duke it out for control of your brain.

You'd think that after the divorce, the Bennets could manage to have a simple meal without conversations heavily-laden with double meanings, but awkward restaurant lunch was awkward. But it was all to the good. Willow and Tara Claire and Gretchen spent a romantic evening via candlelight bonded over what freaks they both were in their soon-to-be-shared dorm room. Claire really does go for the stalkers, doesn't she?

Samuel broke my heart when he asked Peter if he'd ever lost a brother, because Peter gave the wrong answer. He has lost a brother; he just doesn't know it yet. If Peter winds up reforging his bond with Nathan only to find out that Nathan died last volume and he was bonding with a Nathan-shaped Sylar instead, there won't be enough therapy in the world to fix him this time. God only knows who he'd wind up following then.

I need to start watching this again (although I might be hopelessly lost at this point), but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be seen in the next episode (4x03). I'm a worker in the battered women's shelter, and I should be visible in the scene where the Ali Larter character drops off the red head to the shelter. I'm wearing a blue tabard, iirc.

The continuity on this series is horrible. They tend to reboot canon and retcon characters every volume, so just jump right in wherever you are. It won't make any more or less sense to you than to the rest of us.

Did you have your hair up or down? I want to be able to spot you, but I need a visual cue. I actually failed to recognize my own father once on one of those car shows on TLC, and he was in a good-sized interview segment where he was square on camera and talking and everything, and I even knew he was going to be in it. ::is oblivious::

I'm pretty sure my hair was up in a bun. It usually is for extra work - easy and fast and doesn't require touch ups all day. :) I've got a peach-ish striped button down shirt on under the tabbard, iirc.

I'm getting pretty good at playing "spot the Sam." :)

Your hair is obviously not my hair. My hair is frictionless. It slides out of any confinement I attempt to put it in after mere minutes.

Considering that the PTB didn't seem to be aware that the last guy was stalker-like, I don't know whether the audience is supposed to expect this Gretchen thing to go horribly wrong or if we're supposed to think that this is what friendly people behave like.

I don't know what to think either. Part of me is reading this as the start of a Willow/Tara-type romance, while another part of me thinks Stalker!Gretchen tossed Annie out the window so she could be Claire's roommate.

Tara was gawky, while Gretchen is freaky. I'm convinced myself that Gretchen tossed Annie out the window. She was the one who had a book about how jumping out versus pushing through a window looks.

Again, part of me thinks she's freaky, while another part of me sees her as having the people skills of Rodney McKay, and that what comes across as pushy and arrogant in a thirty-something astrophysicist comes across as pushy and freaky in a teenage girl. It would help if we could trust the writers to know where they were headed.

I'd love to think she was a Rodney McKay type, but as you said I don't trust these writers.

Dude, Robert Knepper is so fantastic as Samuel that I have no words. I've loved him through Carnivale and Prison Break and I can't wait to see more.

Believe it or not, I've been a fan of Robert Knepper's since the pilot of E.A.R.T.H. Force. (Obscure show is obscure.) I think I may even still have a horribly degraded copy of the pilot on VHS somewhere (RK was only in the pilot; sadly, his character didn't make the cut for the main cast and he didn't appear in any of the regular episodes).

Wow! I looked him up on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0460694/) and found out he was in one of my favorite movies ... Young Guns II. This is totally crazy, but in a good way. :)

Yup. It was his second Lou/Kiefer movie (after Renegades).

Maybe I'll have a Young Guns double feature tomorrow on my day off. :)

It's official we agree on nothing (I hate Emma - and up to the moment that her powers put a crack in the wall I was mocking her powers like all get out... since I don't think she had done that at this point, I was still mocking her at this point.)

That said you're still one of the coolest people I've met in this fandom - how do I reconcile those two things? ;)

LOL! Just out of curiosity, why don't you like Emma? I've seen a number of people on LJ say they couldn't stand her, but none of them said why. (I'm not planning to talk you out of it--I really am just curious.)

how do I reconcile those two things?

Therapy? ;-)

She bores me, and her poor little pitiful me I'm deaf attitude really bugged me... until I found out there was more behind it. I have this thing about people who hide behind disabilities and plays the victom, it pisses me off. (Having a few mental disabilities myself I feel I have the right to have an opinion on the subject.)

You have the right to your own opinions regardless.

Oh yeah and because she wasn't Kateland and I hated the way they just dropped Kate's storyline - I loved her with Peter. I thought she gave him exactly what you keep saying he needs, a life line that was completely beyond the Petrelli reach.

You mean trapped-in-a-plague-ridden-future Caitlin? I didn't mind her character, but the actress was one of the very few that I didn't feel had any chemistry with Milo. On the other hand, she wasn't on very long. With time to develop her character more, she and Peter could've been a cute couple.
