From the editors:

"After 33 years, and considering the present state of the economy, we feel its time for a major revamp and will be temporarily discontinuing publication while the model and redesign of the magazine are contemplated and executed.

The last print issue available for the time being is #374, while issue #375 will be available exclusively as a digital edition on the network in the very near future."

That's shocking. I wouldn't have thought that would happen. It's going to be strange going to the store and not seeing a Starlog on the shelves.

It is. When I was a teen, Starlog was the source for news about my favorite genre shows and movies.

I think it was my first genre magazine experience. My friend had a collection going back all the way to issue 1.

That's sad, I read Starlog all through college and well into the '90's when it seemed to become all horror movies.

I think I stopped reading before that. I quit when I realized the every single article for 4 issues in a row was about one of the Star Trek series. I got burned out on all the Trek in the early '90s.

*chuckle* actually, that's when I got my first subscription - see, Jack always called The Next Gen "my Star Trek thing" even though he watched it more than I did. He got me a subscription because it was "all about my Star Trek thing" but guess who read it more than I did?

When Voyager and Enterprise became part of the SciFi (I refuse to call it "SyFy") Channel, he sat and watched them while I was online or making dinner - it wasn't "my" Star Trek anymore. :)

I loved ST:TNG up until about season 5. I tolerated ST:V mostly because Paris & Torres killed me with how cute they were. I never could get into DS9 or Enterprise.

I actually owe Enterprise for my deep fannish love of Stargate SG-1. I started watching both shows at the same time, and it seemed to me like SG-1 was doing everything that Enterprise should have been doing, so I hopped on the Stargate bandwagon. My dad went the other way. He hates Stargate SG-1 and loves Enterprise.

Wow. First Dragon goes bye-bye, and now Starlog is (abeit supposedly temporarily).

What is my inner geek going to read?!?
