I kind of like that TPTB haven't been trying to shoehorn every character into every episode lately. It gives the audience more of a chance to connect with the characters. On the other hand, when an episode is made up entirely of storylines you're not that interested in, it can make for a very long hour.
Raise your hand if you're already sick of the Shapeshifter!Sylar fakeouts. ::raises hand:: I'm sure the show is aiming for something suspenseful in each and every is-it-or-isn't-it Sylar scene, but all it does for me is make it ten times harder to decide if I should be giving a crap about anything that's happening on screen. 'Danko is seriously messing with HRG! Do I care? No, it's Sylar.' 'Sandra served HRG with divorce papers and said she doesn't love him! Do I care? No, it's Sylar.' You know, this is why it never bothered me that Peter had so many powers. It only seemed fair for one of the good guys to have enough powers to balance out Sylar.
Parkman has been spending too much time with Peter. He's already learned how to menace someone with a gun and make lots of threats, only to choke in the clutch because he's too nice to follow through on any of it. And call me heartless, but I don't think Matt depriving Danko of his favorite call girl will make Danko feel Matt's sense of loss over Daphne's death. Danko doesn't appear to have been issued with any human emotions for this assignment and I doubt he'll requisition any.
"Ando, make the face!" Hee! Poor Ando. You know, my mother always said that if I wasn't careful, my face would freeze like that. Good thing he and Hiro found Parkman in time.
So nearly every character on the show discovered the existence of Project Icarus on the same day and all decided to head out to Coyote Sands? Excuse me while I break out the industrial winch to suspend my disbelief. And why is Angela making them dig up all the bodies, besides it being a cool visual? Couldn't she just tell them a bunch of people had been executed and buried there? On the other hand, it did force Peter and Nathan to work together, which I am all for. All the Petrellis should always be in one place at the same time as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, I totally agree with your breakdown of what is wrong with Sylar having this power. And they think time-travelling is confusing? At least the time travel didn't completely ruin the drama or tension of a scene.
If they don't remove at least shape shifting from Sylar's list of powers by the end of this Volume, I will be very disappointed.

Yes! I'm with you on this one too.

I'm just not sure where they're going with his character. Is he just going to run around gobbling up other people's powers indefinitely like some sociopathic Pac-Man? Right now, none of the good guys have enough power to stop him, short of some luck and a judicious brain penetration. I like watching Sylar exercise his psycho killer muscles as much as the next person, but unless the writers find something new for him to do besides collect powers, I think his character may have run its course.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:54 am (UTC)From:I believe you have have just uncovered (uh, no pun intended) Angela's masterplan to get their sons back together: make then dig skeletons out of holes in the middle of the desert. Clearly, genius stuff. Because after a few hours of backbreaking work, they will look at each other, all dirty and sweaty, fall into each other's arms and retreat into one of those abandoned sheds to *ahem* reconcile.
Was I the only one reminded of the movie Holes when they started digging?
