I'm in shock. As much as I hated the first few episodes (which was a lot), after the last two, I think...maybe...I'm actually starting to like this show.
::faints::
The dialogue has definitely changed for the better. I finally feel like I'm at least listening to a Joss show now in a way that I didn't even feel with Firefly.
The change in focus has also been a big help. Now the episodes are concentrating more on revealing the background behind the Dollhouse and its actives, rather than watching Echo get pimped out as a new client's sex toy every week. The other characters are getting more attention now too, which makes for a more rounded perspective of the show's universe than just following Echo around all the time.
It helps to know that the Dollhouse is more than just a glorified whorehouse for its own sake. Renting out the actives is just what they do to raise money, not what they use the money for. Apparently, the money earned by the Dollhouse is going towards funding research of some kind. I'm looking forward to finding out what kind, because I'm not convinced that an organization that sells people for money is looking for the cure for cancer.
I'm curious about what offer Adelle could have made to Caroline to convince her to sign up for the Dollhouse. Rossum Corp., the company Caroline was trying to expose for animal cruelty and medical tests on human fetuses, is one of the biggest funders of the Dollhouse, so the offer must've been pretty impressive to make her even temporarily ally herself with the people who killed her boyfriend.
And you know what? I need a drawer of inappropriate starches.
