Date: 2009-03-10 11:39 pm (UTC)From:Cats: What can I say? I'm a cat person. They're cute and soft and silly and way more affectionate than non-cat people give them credit for. And for some reason, they really like me. Barn cats try to climb in the car with me when I leave. It's my major superpower: the power of cat attraction. Don't tell Danko.
Science Fiction: I never stood a chance on this one. It was genetic. Both my parents are fairly well closeted original Trekkers. I grew up watching Star Trek, Space 1999, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, and all that. Oddly enough, I was never that interested in reading SF (having been steered to 2 "classic" SF books that I hated by my English teacher and my school librarian) until I met my best friend in high school. She put me onto Douglas Adams, Harry Harrison, Keith Laumer, and Piers Anthony, among others. Having gotten the fan gene from both my parents, I took the next quantum leap in fannishness: I saw Star Wars 49 times, started going to cons when I was 15 (TARDIS 21 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare), started reading fan fic when I was 16, and just went on from there. My parents are still trying to figure out where they went wrong. ;-)
Favorite Actors: That's hard for me to say. I tend to associate actors with their characters too much. Not that I think the actors are like their characters in real life, but I'm very character driven in my entertainment, so I tend to like characters far more than actors. I love Michael Biehn in action movies, but not in dramas. I love Callum Keith Rennie when he's playing good guys. I love Peter Cushing when he's playing bad guys. Ditto for Christopher Lee. Michael Praed was so inhumanly pretty on Robin of Sherwood that you couldn't look directly at him without safety equipment. I'm also very fond of Jared Padalecki, Joe Flanigan, Richard Dean Anderson, Jamie Bamber, and Gordon Michael Woolvett. I'll probably think of a bunch more as soon as I click 'post'.
Chicago: I was born in the city and have lived in the city itself or its suburbs all my life. It's my favorite city in the world. It has all the culture of cities considered more cosmopolitan, but without the attitude. It also has some of the best architecture in the world, which we take very seriously. No new skyscraper can go up until the city council is shown how it will affect the look of the skyline and gives its approval. I just love the look and the energy of the place every time I go downtown.
