This show is getting harder and harder to meta, what with the way they reboot canon at the start of every new volume. Continuity went flying out the window ages ago. Fortunately, the Petrellis continue to leave me in awe with their epic dysfunction.

Congratulations, Nathan. You got your compassionate and unbelievably forgiving little brother to disown you and hold you hostage with a gun to your head. That takes some work. But you get major brownie points for thanking Bennet for not taking the shot he clearly had to kill Peter. Oh, but then you lose those brownie points by calling your mom to tell her how your project going to hell in a handcart is everyone's fault but yours.

In true Petrelli fashion, Angela failed to give Nathan the reassurance he was looking for just because she's still pissed that Nathan took her (and the other elders') life's work, gave it to the President, and got himself put in charge of it, completely usurping her position. Based on the files she was perusing while on the phone with Nathan, I don't think she's out of the game yet. The big question is what she'll do if Peter contacts her like Nathan thinks he will. Is she a big enough believer in the project to turn him over again, or is she pissed enough at Nathan to work with Peter against him?

It looks like Peter's going to be the Head Fred of the resistance. I'm not sure he's a good enough tactician for it, but everyone likes him and is willing to both follow and protect him. And if it means he gets to look ridiculously hot wearing tactical gear, you won't hear any complaints from me.

I hope Daphne is only mostly dead. I liked her. Why couldn't they kill off Tracy instead? All she's done so far is sleep with politicians and change her loyalties every 5 seconds to ally herself with whoever makes her the best offer. Been there, done that, wore out the usefulness of those character traits.

Speaking of Daphne, how did she get to Tokyo? She doesn't fly, she just runs really fast, and the last time I checked, there was rather a lot of water between the U.S. and Japan.

Oh, well. I'm looking forward to seeing how the "terrorists" fare on their own. Funny how they got upgraded to criminal status just because they wouldn't go quietly to imprisonment for the rest of their lives 'for their own good.' Claire was right. Nathan and his Brute Squad started it. All the people with abilities who were captured had regular jobs and were minding their own business. They wouldn't have been a threat to anyone, but now they've been provoked. I suspect this won't end well for anyone.

Here via ninth_wonders:

Maybe it's like in The Incredibles and she runs so fast, she can run on water?

Either that, or it was like the world's fastest trip to Tokyo and back to capture Hiro--it was expedient for the plot and the writers hoped we wouldn't notice. ;-)

Yeah, I thought Peter tooked OMG hot in that tactical gear. *Is Dead* And I've been growing the tree of Nathan-hate for a while now because honestly, could he be any more of a dick? I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

The truly amazing thing is that Peter grew up in that family. He must've gotten the double recessive on every possible Petrelli gene.

No doubt about that. :)

The Petrelli brothers actors have such great chemistry, and the show continues to mostly squander it. No surprise. I'd be more ticked off at Nathan if his current arc didn't have authorial convenience instead of character development written all over it. His plan made no sense, not in real life and not for who he is!

Yes, please, kill Tracy already.

I miss season 1 Nathan. And I wish Nathan and Peter got to interact more. Nathan gets in trouble when he doesn't let Peter act as his conscience, and Peter gets in trouble when he doesn't let Nathan protect him from his naivete.

Which is still going on, but I doubt the current writing staff is doing it on purpose. *g*
