The more I see of Helen the more I suspect she's not quite sane anymore. She certainly has a lot of secrets. I think I like your idea that she's working with some other group. Unless she did a stint in the army or took survival training courses before disappearing, her "mad action hero skillz" had to be taught to her by someone; she doesn't seem to have been living a life you could survive without said skills and/or companions with the skills.
Personally, I would love to see more teaminess. More Stephan would be lovely, too. ;-)
