This is the first episode I haven't been that wild about, mostly because too many characters were being so very, very stupid.
First of all, whose genius idea was it to take Helen out into the field fully prepped and supplied to escape from them? She didn't need a field pack or a weapon (that big honkin' knife she loaned Stephen) to show them where the anomaly was. And why wasn't she restrained in some way? They were going to an anomaly. It wouldn't take much effort to run through it, as she so ably demonstrated. She should've at least been handcuffed. I can only hope that Lester arranged the whole thing as part of a secret deal he made with Helen that will come to light later, otherwise those special forces guys were really not so special. That giant plain full of anomalies that Helen escaped to was pretty awesome, though, and kind of scary in its implications.
One of my biggest issues with this episode was that it focused heavily on Connor's friends, Tom and Duncan. I've never liked them because of the insulting things they say about Connor behind his back when they're supposed to be his closest friends, but now it turns out that they're jerks who also have no common sense. While I certainly wasn't wishing for Tom to die, I'm also not disappointed that he won't be on the show again. I hope that's the last we see of Duncan, too.
