This show continues to be a heck of a lot of fun. It has a nice mix of good dialogue, likeable characters, action, suspense, and now geek humor.
"That's the saddest thing I've seen since The Matrix Revolutions." Hee.
I continue to like all of the main and secondary characters, which is rare for me. I'm starting to have an issue with Claudia, though, just because her character seems to be a lightning rod for sexism on the show. Last week, she got to be the stereotypical damsel in distress who couldn't run three steps without falling and spraining an ankle. This week, her boss implied that she was supporting Nick, not because he was an expert in his field, but because she was sexually attracted to him. Then Claudia turned around and tried to stop Abby from going down into the subway tunnels because it was "too dangerous" after she'd already decided that Nick and Stephen could go. How was it any more dangerous for Abby than for Nick and Stephen? Okay, Stephen seems to have some action hero credentials, but Nick doesn't and he was gearing up. It probably wouldn't bother me so much (well, yeah, it probably would) if we knew anything about Claudia, but so far her character has been developed less than the main team members, so this impression of her is all I have to go on. Hopefully, that will change over time.
Meanwhile, may I just say that in no time period in history did bugs need to be that big? And that I never ever want a job where being rained on by spiders bigger than my head is a possibility? ::shudders::
I'm curious to see why Helen never contacted Nick after she disappeared. Obviously, she couldn't when she was stuck on the other side of the rift, but she's clearly back now, and she seems to be able to come and go as she pleases. Of course, it's possible that if they were arguing as much as Nick implied (and especially about her work), that she chose to further her work rather than go home to a failing marriage. Time will tell.
