I think this was a first for Torchwood: a plot-heavy episode with minimal character Drama. They should do this again sometime.
Team Torchwood continues to work together like professional adults. I approve. My 'Bad Torchwood!' icon is starting to feel neglected.

Martha Jones joined UNIT? I can totally see that. She has unique qualifications with her education and practical experience, plus she totally has the temperament for field work. She would also be good as part of Torchwood. She's immune to both Jack's and Owen's flirtations, and she gets along well with Gwen, Tosh, and Ianto (possibly because she's immune to both Jack's and Owen's flirtations). In fact, I'm wondering if she's going to join Torchwood. She kind of hijacked this episode in a way that looked like the introduction of a recurring character, rather than one guest appearance. Of course, she was a significant character on Doctor Who, so I could be wrong. Wouldn't it be something if BBC Wales spun off a show about UNIT with Martha as the main character? Doctor Who could turn into the Welsh equivalent of the CSI franchise.
Poor Tosh. Owen really was completely oblivious to her advances for how many years? And when he finally gets thwapped in the head with the clue bat and agrees to a date with her, he goes and dies on her the same night.
As for Owen dying, I can't possibly be that lucky. As a matter of fact, I just did a post on my feelings about character deaths on my shows yesterday (linked post contains major spoilers for the Stargate Atlantis episode "The Kindred, Pt. 2"). Basically, I'm not holding my breath that he'll stay dead, but a girl can dream, can't she?
