For a couple of minutes there, I felt like I was watching Supernatural.
How cool was it that the ghosts the hospital staffers were seeing were actually the members of present day Torchwood? I also loved the glimpse of the 1918 iteration of Torchwood. I had to laugh when they showed the sealed report Gerald and Harriet left behind. Wouldn't it have sucked if the box had finally opened to reveal the crucial instructions...and nobody could read the handwriting?
Toshiko has the worst taste in significant others. If she's not pining for Owen, she's dating homicidal space aliens or frozen soldiers. She really needs to find someone to settle down with. I was impressed that she was able to convince Tommy to go back to 1918, even though she knew it meant his death. I think she's the first member of Torchwood other than Jack to buckle down and do something painful because it needed to be done.
Poor Ianto sounded really scared that Jack might want to go back to his own time someday. Ianto's very serious "yes" to Jack's teasing "Would you miss me?" was so sweet. And then it led to snogging, which is always good.
Tommy's story was very tragic, what with the shell shock, being frozen for 90 years, and having to leave a woman he loved to go back and face execution for a real psychological issue that wasn't understood back then, and yet I really didn't feel anything for him. I don't know if it was the actor, or the writing, or what, but Tommy felt more like a plot point than a person to me. I feel kind of bad about not feeling any sympathy for him, but the show just didn't make me care.
Good gravy, Torchwood managed to work together in a crisis and Owen had a thought for someone other than himself. In the same episode. I...I...I think I need to lie down for a minute. ;-)
And now I need to go gather up all my Gwen hate in a nice little pile. I have a feeling I'm going to need it next week.
