We still have the moving company for one more day (they were dismantling and packing shelving all day today, so all work was done to the banging and crashing of metal being thrown into boxes), so they're taking carts of stuff over to the temp location in their truck. Starting on Monday, our maintenance staff will be hauling stuff over maybe twice a day until we get a feel for how things are going. Our outreach person is going to have to swing by the post office on her route to pick up our mail.
The tens of thousands of items going to the temp location had to have their locations changed in the catalog so we could keep track of what we had available, as opposed to what was in long-term storage. This meant all of those things had to be scanned in and batch changed. Guess which department was in charge of that? I'm so used to hearing steady beeping from the barcode scanners that I've slept through my alarm every day for the last 2 weeks.
