the_other_sandy: Black and white TV (TV)
I remember when summer was all reruns all the time and I could turn off the TV for four months and catch up on my reading or backlog of videos. Now I think I have just as many shows in the summer as I do during the regular season.

Hawaii Five-0 -- Yes, I know this isn't really a summer show, but I stopped watching it last December and CBS is just now rerunning the episodes I missed. I'm trying it again because I kind of miss it, but ultimately I miss the way it was when it was good. Everything that made me stop watching it is still there (seriously, why is Jerry on the show at all, besides Lenkov's seeming determination to give a main role to anyone who has ever appeared on Lost for more than five seconds?). I guess I'll just have to sustain myself with Tumblr GIFs.

Humans -- I only started watching this because Colin Morgan was in it, but I wound up liking it more than I thought I would. The show doesn't really cover any new ground in the philosophical debate of at what point does an AI become human, but I'm interested in seeing what's going on with Anita/Mia and Leo, and I love what the show is doing with Niska. Also, the actors cast as the synths are uniformly outstanding.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell -- I only made it through the first episode. The special effects when the characters were using magic were very cool, but that wasn't enough to sustain my interest when I didn't care for the plot, the characters, or any of the actors.

Killjoys -- This is one of my favorites. I love the characters and their interactions. The action scenes are a nice bonus. The thing I love most is the portrayal of a man and woman working together, trusting each other implicitly, respecting each other's abilities, and loving each other platonically. There is no sexual tension between them at all; they love each other like the found family they are.

Mr. Robot -- This show is not nearly as deep and profound as it thinks it is. The plot is fairly interesting, but I'm not sure how long my interest in the plot can sustain me when I find all the characters to be so completely odious. I may not make it to the end of the season with this one.

Poldark -- I'm not that into English historical dramas. I only started watching this because Aidan Turner is in it, but even as good as he is (and he is really good), I may not keep up with this one. I already suffered through Desperate Romantics for him, so he owes me one.

Teen Wolf -- Jeff Davis seems to have adopted the trendy showrunner philosophy that states 'You know that thing that made our show so popular and successful? Let's get rid of that thing! Fans will love that!' (see: Heroes, Supernatural, Hawaii Five-0, Sleepy Hollow, etc.) The only thing left of the show I fell in love with is Dylan O'Brien. As long as he's there, I'm there, but I'll be cross stitching every time he's not on screen.

The Whispers -- This is another show I wound up liking more than I thought I would. I only started watching it because Milo Ventimiglia was in it, but it's another one of my favorites. Creepy children, science fiction, and Action!Milo...what's not to like?

Zoo -- Generic characters, uninspired acting, bad science (correlation does not equal causation, people!), and a cheesy plot. I'm rooting for the animals to eat everyone.
