Sorry I'm late. Remember how I was sick last week? Yep, still sick. I'm officially sick of being sick.
Wow, was that a plot that almost seemed plausible? Was Danny allowed to use his smarty brains and people skills in the same episode and have a badass moment? Did Danny actually come right out and tell Steve about Reyes and Matt like friends do? If it weren't for Jerry and Grover, I'd feel like I'm watching season one again. I'm almost afraid to like it for fear it's just a fluke.
How did Five-0 ever manage to solve a case without Jerry? Seriously, the kinds of things they're going to him for help with are getting ridiculous.
I hope we get to see Matt at some point, if for no other reason than I'd dearly love for someone to punch him in the face. Either Matt blurted out a name to distract Reyes from whatever Reyes was doing to Matt and it just happened to be Danny's, or Matt deliberately sicced Reyes on Danny because Danny is a cop and Matt hopes Danny will take care of Reyes for him. Either way, Matt is using Danny to save his own ass and expects Danny to clean up the mess Matt made. That's not buddies, Matt. I know Danny would never do it because he's loyal to his family and loves his brother, but part of me wishes Danny would just leave Matt to face the consequences of his own actions. I'm really looking forward to Danny and Reyes squaring off, though. I don't think it's going to go the way Reyes thinks it is.
The ending was a nice change from the usual unrepentant bad guys we get on this show. Jason was an otherwise decent guy who snapped under the weight of his grief and guilt, and then made some bad life choices. In the end, he couldn't even bring himself to pull the trigger on Caroline. He deserves all the prison time he's about to get, but he's not evil.
I hope all this is a sign of things to come. This season has been a vast improvement over the last few. When people ask me why I still watch shows I'm not really enjoying anymore, well, this is why. If the show gets good again, I don't want to miss it.
