the_other_sandy: Black and white TV (TV)
Well, this episode opened many, many cans of worms for the rest of the season to deal with.

I had a feeling Sam and Dean finally getting back on the same page last season was too good to be true. I was hoping for something better than a replay of the 'wall in Sam's brain' plot, though. Last time, he couldn't poke at the wall because he'd remember what happened to him in hell and it would break him. This time, he can't know Ezekiel is riding shotgun because if he ejects Ezekiel before he's healed, he'll die. So, we're back to the whole keeping secrets thing, and while I have no doubt that Sam won't eject Ezekiel until after he's been healed enough to survive, he's not going to be happy about being an unknowing host. We'll probably still get some great broments, but they'll be tempered by the knowledge that it's all going to blow up in Dean's face at some point.

But can I just say how happy I am that after 8 years, we finally got a scene of Sam in the (non-psychiatric) hospital? I think I was right about them not being able to find a bed big enough for Jared. They really should have taken the footboard off at least. Sam was squished into that bed like an accordion.

The logistics of all the angels falling never really occurred to me, but of course there won't be enough proper vessels for all of them. Sam was meant to be Lucifer's vessel so he should hold up fine, but most of the rest of the angels will probably just dive into whoever's handy, and those bodies weren't meant to contain angels. Any angel not lucky enough to find a vessel is probably going to blow through hosts at a pretty good clip.

Metatron covered his tracks pretty well. All the angels seem to think the fall was Castiel's fault, and Castiel doesn't remember enough to tell them otherwise. Meanwhile, all the angels are facing a radical lifestyle adjustment. Some of them are struggling with the whole free will thing, and Castiel faced temptation in the form of laundry vs. food. Food won. Does that mean the end of the indestructible zombie trenchcoat? Or will it find its way back to him Homeward Bound-style after he left it behind at the laundromat? I would totally watch that episode.

And Show hasn't even touched on the whole Crowley/Abaddon thing yet. Looks like it's going to be a busy season.
