I'm convinced that the only reason Dean didn't get a taste of the Tree of Pain was that Charlie introduced him as her "handmaiden."
I thought it was so sweet that Sam had them stick around to play with the LARPers because Dean had said it kind of looked like fun. It made the episode seem out of continuity with the rest of the season, but I'm totally fine with ignoring most of what this season has done to Sam.
I thought it was interesting that the fairy first showed up to Charlie looking like Herne/Cernunnos but then the episode didn't do anything with it.
