If Sheriff Mills dies, I don't think it will be because she's a woman, but because she's a recurring character. Most of them don't make it very long regardless of gender.
I hate it when the boys split up. At least in the earlier seasons I could be confident that it wouldn't last long and the boys would hash out whatever their issue was. Now, after 2 1/2 season of animosity, I don't want their reconciliation derailed for even a second.
