Yikes! Where do I start?
The show is called Hawaii Five-0, so it's not like Five-0 is going to be permanently disbanded. Steve is the main character, so it's not like he won't be cleared. Scott Caan has a contract for next season, so it's not like Danny is going to go back to Jersey. So why am I so nervous?
For one thing, I don't know how they're going to clear Kono. She (and the rest of Five-0) really did steal the money from the asset forfeiture locker. That's illegal no matter how you slice it.
For another thing, I don't know how Danny and Rachel's relationship is going to play out. I just don't see it working out any better the second time around. Rachel hasn't even divorced Stan yet, and Danny has already missed the flight he promised to make because he was doing cop stuff. That's got to remind Rachel of one of the reasons she divorced him in the first place.
Will she leave Hawaii permanently with Grace, forcing Danny to do something he doesn't want to do (lose Five-0 and his ohana, or lose Rachel, Grace, and the new baby) again, or will she be back? I don't want Rachel (and/or Grace) to die, but I can't see watching her and Danny start over with a new baby either. And I definitely don't want to see what Danny would be like if he couldn't see Grace regularly. Ugh. There are just so many ways this could go wrong, and I like Daddy!Danno just the way he is.
You know what's really bothering me about the Wo Fat storyline? That he seems to be doing so much of his shooting and bombing himself. He can afford to hire flunkies to do his dirty work for him and prevent any evidence from implicating him. I find it very hard to believe that no one has ever been able to make a case against him when he's so hands on with his criminal activities.
I'm pretty sure Chin went back to HPD so he could work on clearing Steve from that angle. He just can't let anyone know or he won't be able to stay involved in the case. And Lieutenant Kelly now outranks Danny.
The one thing I want to see more than anything next season is for Wo Fat to deeply regret not targeting Danny. I have a feeling Danny is going to be on a mission until all this gets cleared up. And if he does clear everything up? Danny is going to be Wo Fat's new special friend, right up there with Steve. Which again brings up mixed feelings about Rachel and Grace. I don't want Wo Fat to go after them (and there's no way he won't if Danny annoys him enough), but I don't want them packed off to the mainland for their own safety either.
Is it fall yet?

Date: 2011-05-17 06:50 am (UTC)From:I found your H50 finale review by following the post on SteveDannoslash, and I agree with you that Danny is going to move up on Wo Fat's "Must Destroy" list, and that will put Rachel, Gracie, and the new baby squarely in the line of fire. In fact, it's the only way that I can see for the writers to remove Gracie from Danny's life. He may have to do what Steve's father and Steve did, and that's send his family away for their own protection. It would create another Danny/Rachel roadblock if Danny has to love his family from a distance for a while. It would also mean that we will have a brooding and avenging Danny next season. That could be interesting. ; )
Take care!!! : )

I loved the finale and I'm excited to see where they're going with it. I just don't think I'm going to survive the wait!

Date: 2011-05-18 03:28 am (UTC)From:On the plus side, I loved Steve in this. He got to be nicely BAMFy, running across rooftops, beating up guards and HPD officers, raiding Kamekona's arsenal (which was rather silly and very cool), and having a show-down with the governor. Steve also got to be stupid in very in-character ways, letting his feelings about his parents' cases and Wo Fat get the better of him. I do wonder if he told anyone about getting tasered though. There should be evidence of that, and it would help his argument that he was framed for her murder.
I also wonder what's going to happen with Kono. Why didn't any of them think to go back and clean up the field after they got Hesse?! I know the money was tossed in a fire, but a big bag of paper (cash) isn't going to burn worth a darn, and there's probably other evidence of something weird going on that shouldn't be just left lying around.
I'm with you on Chin going to HPD to work from the inside. At least, I hope he's that smart. Given his actions the last few episodes, he's overdue for some smarts.
Danny and Jenna are both in big trouble. Danny could go back to HPD, at least theoretically, and see if he can do anything. Maybe Jenna could go back to the CIA and try to continue her investigations there?
I just had a horrible thought, too. I wonder how much time will pass in the show between this episode and the first episode of season two. I really, really hope that everything picks back up where it left off.
