The BF and I got to do a proper hall crawl today, which resulted in the acquisition (for me) of 2 Supernatural zines (new), 3 Pros zines (used), and 1 Man from UNCLE zine (used). There's still one person having a used zine sale that I haven't managed to catch in her room, so I'm going to try again tomorrow. Because it's not MediaWest if I haven't purchased my own weight in zines.
I tried to go to a social networking panel in the morning (because it's not like I don't spend every waking moment on LJ already), but the audience was really small and they were rehashing a panel on those cheesy movies Syfy runs on Saturday night. I kept waiting for the panel to get back on topic, but after 15 minutes with no sign of that happening, I left. Fortunately, I ran into
wraithfodder in the atrium, so we chatted until we both had to go to panels.
For me, that panel was a Stargate Atlantis McShep discussion that covered both the show and fan fic in pretty equal proportion. I now have some new fic to read. I also went to a similar Stargate Atlantis panel that was strictly for reccing fic. I don't know what I did before Delicious to keep track of my fic reading.
Holy Mother Grammatica held her annual grammar pet peeve panel. I usually have fic bloopers, but either everyone has been incredibly well behaved this year, or I'm not reading on FF.net as much. The occasional bloopers I came across this year just haven't been as funny as usual. I did have a quote from a news article about Wikipedia that stated it was maintained by "a group of small and dedicated volunteers."
A small group of us also talked about whether we're anticipating or dreading the upcoming A-Team movie. The jury's still out for me. I've seen some things in the trailers I liked and some things I didn't. Ultimately, we had a hard time talking about anything other than the trailers because there hasn't been any coverage about the movie other than casting. It's kind of worrisome that there haven't been any magazine articles or interviews yet. The movie comes out June 11.
The really cool thing so far is that the vid show seems to have rebounded. Last year, the competition slash vid show only had 3 vids. This year, it was back up to nearly an hour long. It was nice to see some Stargate vids again (both SG-1 and SGA). Those fandoms seemed to die out rather suddenly after being among the dominant ones for years. I haven't had a chance to see the gen vids yet, but I hope to do that tomorrow.
