I think I need new icons. Half the cast in my cast icon is no longer on the show, and most of the rest of my icons are Peter & Nathan. It just doesn't feel right using them anymore.
Umm, what happened to Mohinder? Did I miss a memo? Was Mohinder written out of the show? He didn't even get to do the boring and incomprehensible monologue at the beginning of the episode. At least his powers made it into the show via Peter. And when and how did that happen anyway?
That's what I hate the most about the start of each season. There's always some random time jump, and we spend the next 8 episodes or so wondering if certain plot points are a continuity flaw or if it's something from the missing time the writers just haven't gotten around to explaining yet.
For instance, as happy as I am to see Hesam as Peter's partner again, the 6 week time jump means we didn't get to see Hesam's reaction when Peter came back to work. From Hesam's perspective, Peter went missing, then was on the news as a wanted terrorist. Now he's back and Hesam is acting like Peter just took a day off.
After the few seasons he's just had (does anybody even know anymore how much time is supposed to have passed for the characters since the show started?), I can understand Peter wanting to simplify his life, but I think he went overboard. He seems to have cut out everything except his bed and his job, and I don't know why he kept the bed because, except for a few druggings and the odd coma, he hasn't slept since early season 2.
As much as I enjoyed Peter ignoring "Nathan"'s phone calls this time around (I guess the foot's on the other hand now, isn't it "Nathan?"), I think it's a mistake for Peter to be alone. He's really not the kind of person who copes well with stress by himself. He's really been struggling since his brother stopped being his primary caretaker in season 2. I was hoping that Mohinder or someone would step in. Maybe HRG? He seemed very paternal tonight, what with telling Peter to call his mother and all.
I loved the transition from Badass!Peter fightingDarth Maul Carnival Knife Guy Edgar to Paramedic!Peter working to save the sliced-up bank employee in the vault. That's the Peter I miss.
It looks like Hiro is going to be all about the time travel this season. That does not make me happy. Traveling in time keeps him isolated from the other characters and screws up continuity even worse than the writers do normally.
I'm not sure if I'm going to miss Danko or not. I never liked him, but the idea of him randomly popping up to kill people with abilities like Sylar used to could have been fun. And it's definitely time to thin the herd again. The cast is so huge that I can barely remember the names of characters I know anymore.
And how many Sylars does this show need? Really? I get that he (and Zachary Quinto) are popular, but 3 Sylars? We've got Nathan-shaped Sylar, the Sylar that Parkman is hallucinating, and the remnants of Sylar in Parkman that are affecting Parkman's behavior. Seriously, enough is as good as a feast. Either drop a couple of Sylars, or just go ahead and change the title to The Sylar Show.
Did Annie really commit suicide? That wouldn't make any sense. Gretchen is right: nobody cheerfully maps out their "trajectory" for the next 20 years, then takes a header out the window. Unless she failed that algebra placement test liek woah. My money is on Gretchen having seen Single White Female one too many times.
Why does Angela need Parkman to take Sylar's Sylar memories away when she has the Haitian on her payroll? I'm just sayin'.
Nathan-shaped Sylar doesn't feel like a real character to me. I don't know what to do with him. He's definitely not Nathan, but he's currently not acting like Sylar either. I wonder if he's going to follow through on his plan to reconnect with those important to him ("him" being Nathan). If so, I feel sorry for, well, everybody. What if "Nathan" and Heidi got back together? Simon & Monty would get a fake dad, and Heidi would be sharing a bed with a serial killer. And what if Peter reconciled with his brother only to find out Nathan was dead and it was Sylar all the time?
The jury's still out on the carnival for me. Until we find out what they're really up to, they're just a whole lot more names for me to try to remember.
