I think I'm going to do my Heroes posts on Tuesdays from now on. Watching My Own Worst Enemy keeps me busy until bedtime on Monday nights, and I'm too much of a zombie on Tuesday mornings when I stay up late posting to my LJ.
I can't believe how many people thought Hiro would actually stab Ando. Could there be anything less in character for Hiro? Too bad Daphne is all disillusioned with Hiro now. The scenes between the two of them have been a lot of fun so far. On the other hand, faking Ando's murder meant that Hiro and Ando could go to Africa to interact with Usutu, who I also love. The scenes where he kept turning up to hit Hiro on the head with a shovel were hilarious.
Daphne, meanwhile, was busy talking to Parkman in between appointments with imaginary Lindermans. I can't believe he brought the turtle back from Africa! How is it possible for me to love a character so much that has no lines and essentially doesn't do anything but sit there? Parkman was such an adorable putz ("Hi, I'm Matt. You must be Daphne. I know we've never met, but I had a dream we were married, and we had a baby and a turtle. So, are you in love yet?"), that Daphne refused to put him in touch with Pinehearst like she was supposed to.
Claire was being a stereotypical teenager. Having learned nothing from her previous failed attempt at superherodom, she went charging in to rescue Mom Meredith and promptly got caught, along with Mom Sandra. Eric Doyle is one of the creepier people with abilities to appear on the show. I've been wondering how many of the people on level 5 actually belonged there after it turned out that Stephen was just a guy who lost his temper once before he learned how to control his power, but if anybody belongs on level 5, it's this psychopath. Hopefully, Bennet will drop him down a well and leave him there. And once again, getting caught and nearly killed by her intended target (along with both her moms) did nothing to persuade Claire that maybe she doesn't have the skill set necessary to do her dad's job yet.
Peter finally gave Sylar the butt-kicking he's been owed since he killed Peter back in season 1, then went off to confront his dad at Pinehearst. Rumors of Arthur Petrelli's death have obviously been greatly exaggerated. How awesome is it that Arthur is in charge of Pinehearst while his wife is in charge of Primatech? Arthur's power seems to be a cross between Peter's and Sylar's. Arthur takes others' powers by taking them away from their former owners like Sylar, only like Peter, Arthur doesn't have to kill to do it. Adam only died because without his power to continually regenerate his cells, his body advanced to its true age (in one of the more awesome scenes in the episode--sorry, Adam fans). I was kind of sorry to see Peter lose all of his powers, but I'm also glad that he's free of Sylar's impulse to poke around in people's brains.
The rest of the characters are so awesome right now that they only make Mohinder and his plotline look silly. I really hope that Mohinder takes up the invitation from Pinehearst. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the idealistic Mohinder becoming an evil villain, but I'm hoping that being able to interact with people who aren't comatose and stuck to his walls will make his character more nefarious than cheesy. Right now, his story would be right at home in one of the campier Vincent Price movies (only Vincent Price is 100 times more awesome than Mohinder). Really, the only plus to this plot is that it gave us a break from Maya for awhile.
I really liked Tracy in this episode. Usually, it's Nathan who's all take charge, but Tracy didn't panic and managed to get herself and Nathan free and away from Mohinder. I just hope that sedatives are all he injected them with. I don't want to see Nathan and Tracy go barkers like Mohinder has.
