SPN Ep: Blood Brother

But I've already seen season 4.

Did the writers just take the Ruby sub-plot from season 4 and do a find/replace on the names? Because this is all looking very familiar. Except now the brother sneaking off to spend time with a monster supposedly isn't betraying anything or anyone, he's doing "grown-up personal crap." Whatever, Dean. What do you want to bet Sam is the one who gets punched in the face again anyway?

I really hope we get to see a side of Amelia that makes it plausible that Sam hooked up with her, because so far I'm still stuck with my first impression of judgmental bitch. And I usually like Sam's love interests. The only other one I didn't like was season 4 Ruby.

When did Sam become a handyman? Not that it's not hot mind you, but John and Dean were always the Mr. Fix-its of the Winchester family. And since the flashbacks take place not very long after Dean disappeared, Sam hasn't really had time to pick up major new skills.

What was up with the "vampirates"? Okay, Benny looked and acted like a longshoreman, but the rest of his nest were very J. Crew metrosexual for dockworkers. I'm surprised they didn't sparkle.

I really hope the new conflict between Sam and Dean doesn't drag out all season. I'm so over it by this point. Don't they get enough conflict fighting monsters? Do they have to fight each other all the time, too?

I was thankful Benny didn't get flashbacks too. It's really been ridiculous.

I agree about the vampirates' casting and clothing. Benny's maker was very preppy.

I so agree about Amelia. I just about snarled the moment that she said buying your clothes from Army/Navy is a sign of creepiness. It's a sign of being small town and poor, you bitch. But maybe poverty is creepy to her, which certainly doesn't improve her in my eyes.

Sam didn't even know how to keep the Impala's engine up until Dean started teaching him not that long ago.

I'm not a huge fan of flashbacks, so the overabundance of them this season hasn't really been sending me, especially since Supernatural's lead-in, Arrow, is also very big on flashbacks.

I snarled as soon as Amelia accused Sam of stalking her. Yeah, 'cause stalkers often break into their victim's home to fix the garbage disposal.

Ditto. I've heard we're going to be getting these flashbacks for most of the season.

He's obviously just fixing it to grind pieces of her corpse up later! Yeah, she's charming.

Watching the spoiler for next ep it is Dean who gets it in the face. Doesn't knock him down but I am sure it will get a reaction. They both need to air out their feelings, Dean and Sam both suffering from PTS at the same time is a recipe for disaster.
I want their relationship healed, I want the brothers back. I know the writers think they have to keep changing things that we will grow tired of the monster of the week and all. They miss the point, I watch it for the brothers, for the things they will do for each other. We all wish we had that closeness in our lives, someone for whom we are everything. I watch Sam and Dean for that and of course to look at two hot guys swinging machetes at things I wouldn't want to see in broad daylight let alone in a dark creepy basement. At least that is why I watch it, I shouldn't assume those reasons extend to anyone else.

Amen, sister. I miss that aspect of the show. I still believe Sam and Dean love each other, but they haven't seemed to like each other for a long time.

True. I think though that after rewatching the past 2 seasons over the summer I get the feeling they like each other fine. I think it is more that they are suffering from PTS. I really do. This season has them really at the end of their respective tethers. They are acting erratically and out of character, both of them.

Of course they are. Dean's been suffering from it since he came back from hell. Sam's been suffering from it since he came back from hell. The problem is that the writers haven't been going anywhere with it. That piece of character development has been stuck in place with no forward progress for years. I remain unconvinced that it's going anywhere now. You have no idea how happy I will be if I'm proven wrong.
