I have no idea. I'm not keeping up with interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff anymore. The literal ghost in the machine is enough of a trope that the episodes may have nothing to do with each other, but then some people involved in SPN have either worked on or seen enough of Buffy that there may be some influence.
