That is the same for me, not watching for the writing. Sometimes I get the bromance and family feel of it but sometimes when I think it should be there I feel like someone f***ed up with the writing and left the moment feeling cold and left me feeling lost (ie. I think I know and understand a character and then they do something that seems to me to be out of character).
