SPN Ep: Time After Time

It was nice of The CW to throw together a brief congratulatory ad for Supernatural's People's Choice wins, especially since the People's Choice Awards couldn't seem to be bothered to acknowledge the wins themselves.

Was this episode going for a genre guest star record tonight? We got both Nicholas Lea from The X-Files and Jason Dohring from Moonlight.

Poor Dean. He still can't win at Rock Paper Scissors, even now that he's finally learned not to throw scissors.

I know TPTB have said they've been killing off the recurring characters this season in order to isolate Sam and Dean, but if that's the intention, then why do they keep replacing each deceased mentor/friend with a new mentor/friend? What was the point of killing off Bobby and Castiel if they were just going to be replaced with Frank and Sheriff Mills? How is that isolating the Winchesters?

Okay, this next part is probably TMI, but I've had insomnia all my life. Getting up to do something else just wakes me up more, so I spend a fair amount of time mentally Mary-Sueing myself into my shows to entertain myself until I fall asleep. For years my Supernatural character has been a non-angsty cop with no tragic background who just chose to hunt because she discovered that monsters exist and thought something ought to be done about it. Besides, there's something very straightforward about being a hunter. If you stake a vampire, it's problem solved. It's not like the thing's lawyer is going to get it off on a technicality, right? Who knew I was Eliot Ness all along?
