When Epiphanies Go Bad

The BBC is starting up the new season of Sherlock on New Year's Day. The last I heard, we're not getting it on PBS until May. That means that in order to avoid spoilers, I won't be able to read Sherlock fic for five months. Five months. Yes, there are tools like Read It Later or Delicious where I could stash fic to read later, but five months. There will be so much fic stashed after five months that it'll be too overwhelming and I'll just wind up deleting it all without reading it anyway. I'm going to miss five months' worth of fic. And yes, I would like some cheese with my whine.

Are opposed to getting them online? Or do you have a slow connection or something? Because if not you can absolutely see them sooner. I have no intention of waiting until they are on PBS or Netflix.

As a librarian who is expected to uphold copyright law all day at work, it would be extremely hypocritical of me to violate it at home for my own convenience. It's not like I'll never get to see the episodes; I'll just have to be patient. And if the episodes come out on DVD in the UK before they air on TV here, I have an NTSC/PAL all region DVD player. Either way, I'll be watching them legally.

I can fully understand and respect that. I'm just impatient. lol Back when I was a huge Tori Amos fan, I would get a leaked copy of her new album, and still be at the store ASAP the day it came out. lol

At least you still buy the product. Unfortunately, too many people (who apparently don't understand how an economy works) refuse to pay for something when they can get it illegally for free with minimal effort. I've seen illegal downloads drive two U.S. anime distributors out of business.

You can have my cheese, but I'll join you in the whine. I don't think I can avoid Sherlock fic for five months. The withdrawal pains would be too bad! Either I'm going to be holding my hands over my eyes and going, "La-la-la-la," a lot, or I'm going to have to go back through fic that I missed before from coming into the fandom so late.

I'm in so many fandoms I can barely keep up with the current fic. I only wish I had time to go back and read the older stuff. I imagine H50 alone will keep me plenty busy 'til May, especially if one of the spoilers I heard was true.

Meanwhile, if you come across anything you think I might like, please give me a heads-up and I'll stick it in one of the many places I stash fic that I haven't gotten around to reading yet for whatever reason.
