Geez, first Christopher Lee and now Patrick Macnee? This month sucks.

This is truly the end of an era.

I suppose it's part and parcel of getting to be the age I am, but I feel like I lose another part of my childhood on a monthly basis.

In this case, Winston Rekert was the star of the Canadian spy series Adderly back in the '80s. I loved that show. It was silly and fun, yet still had good dramatic character moments. It was on late night TV where I live, and I drove my college roommate nuts staying up to watch it (I had to angle the TV away from her to cut down on the light from the screen and watch it with headphones plugged in).

The day I discovered my VHS tapes of the episodes had degraded too much to be watchable anymore was a very sad one for me. I keep hoping it'll come out on DVD someday.

See article in The Hollywood Reporter.

I watched a heck of a lot of television that he wrote or produced, especially when I was growing up back in the '80s. In fact, I just finished watching season 1 of Silk Stalkings on DVD a couple of days ago. There was an interview with him as part of the extras.

Jim Beaver posted on his blog that director Kim Manners passed away from lung cancer last night. Supernatural won't be the same without him. He was Jared and Jensen's (and many fans') favorite director and always brought out special performances from the boys.

Majel Barrett Roddenberry died.

I was just reading something the other day about her providing the voice for the computer in the new Trek movie, something she's done for all the Trek TV shows and movies since the original series.

First Tony Hillerman dies last week, now Michael Crichton.

I'm really going to miss Crichton. The bleeding edge science in his books was always so interesting. He's one of the few best-selling authors I read.
